Is It Too Late to Become a Blogger?

I think this is a question that every person asks every year or at least someone who is interested and passionate about blogging would but doesn’t know if it’s the right time to create a blog yet or if the right time has already passed. This a topic that I’ve touched upon in the past but my answer was different back then compared to today and that’s what I wanted to talk about in today’s post. Without further ado, let’s jump into it!

THE IMPORTANCE OF PASSION

This is something I’ve already said and I don’t think my opinion has changed drastically when it comes to this point but I do think that if you are passionate about blogging then it’s never too late to start a blog at all. Are there a lot of bloggers? Sure. Are any of them you? No and that’s what makes the difference.

It can be intimidating entering a community and industry that seem saturated but this applies to every field in general. You should never let scarcity and competition scare you, instead focus on your passion & own set of skills and that will lead you to what you want to achieve.

HARDER TO FIND SUCCESS

A few years ago, I would have said that the blogging community hasn’t changed tremendously in the grand scheme of things but right now, I cannot say the same thing. The blogging industry has changed tremendously ever since the pandemic and now, with the rise of short from content and the way social medias have been operating – I would say that finding success as a blogger is extremely hard.

However, this will only apply depending on your own definition of success. For some bloggers, success might be reaching 10 followers on their blogs whereas for others, it might be getting paid or gifted opportunities. One answer isn’t wrong compared to the other but you have to keep in mind that this industry isn’t the way it used to be and if you are trying to create a blog for engagement & opportunities then this will be a very long journey ahead, probably something you will end up quitting pretty quickly.

YOUR VALUE IN THE COMMUNITY

If there is one question you should ask yourself before starting a blog is what value you can provide to your readers instead of how much money you can instantly make or how many followers you will be able to reach within a week. There is nothing wrong with wanting to monetise your blog or wanting to gain engagement but as I mentioned in my previous point, if your sole reason to creating a blog is for money then I am sorry to say but you don’t have any passion to sustain this strenuous journey nor value to bring to an audience.

Starting your blog for the wrong reason will not only set back your growth & success as a blogger but you will also not be able to start anything or sustain anything long term. There is no such thing as a right time in terms of starting a blog but the blogging industry has become much harder to find growth & engagement for any bloggers in general and if those things aren’t any issue to you and if you have passion, patience and motivation to push through those issues then it’s not too late for you to become a blogger.

  1. I like to treat it as something that’s worth doing for its own sake. And hope that it might drive some business my way. ☺️

  2. It’s never too late to build something for yourself. It may just be for yourself and family/close friends in the beginning, but it could go farther. If it doesn’t, at least you’ve become a better writer.
