While browsing through YouTube, I came across the ‘Odyssey plan’ which I found it to be very interesting. For a more detailed and eloquent explanation, I would highly recommend doing your own research but to summarise it in simple terms, it’s a plan in which you visualise how your career will look in 5-10 years with 3 different pathways. Obviously, this plan can include your personal goals as well whether it be your health, relationships, family, etc.
With the first path, you will have to visualise how your path will look like if you follow what you are currently doing without changing any of your actions. With the second path, you will have to visualise how your path will look like if you took a different direction, approach or step as opposed to what you are doing right now.
The last path is pretty much your dream path where you have unlimited resources, so you will have to visualise how your path will look like if you had that opportunity/privilege while very much still following your wants & needs. I found this plan in general to be very fascinating because it allows you to truly find out what you want to accomplish in your life but also what you hope to have.
It’s while I was working on this plan that I wondered if dreams are meant to be unattainable and I wanted to explore this concept with you. What do you consider a dream of yours? Is it something attainable or unattainable? Do you put a lot of value & importance to your dreams? Do you even have any dreams? Do you need to have a dream? If this is something that interests you then please, keep on reading!

ARE DREAMS UNREALISTIC OR PRACTICAL?
Based on my personal dreams, I would say that some of my dreams are practical but they can be very unrealistic in some sense as well because of the circumstances I am in whereas some of my other dreams are unrealistic in general and the idea of them just being ‘dreams’ doesn’t bother me at all. However, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t get to achieve any of my dreams.
All the dreams that I was able to achieve were the practical ones even though I thought they might be unrealistic due to a certain degree, and this is pretty much the case for many people. All your dreams are very practical at the core otherwise you wouldn’t be able to long for them and I would go a step further and say that even your unrealistic dreams have a touch of practicality.
Even if those dreams might seem absurd, there is a reason why you yearned for them to begin with and you might get to accomplish or receive something incredible if you follow that path even if you don’t get to achieve the dream in question.

ARE DREAMS ACHIEVABLE BASED ON LUCK OR HARD WORK?
I know many people might debate that dreams can only be achieved through hard work and others with sheer luck, some people would say it’s a combination of both. I would probably say that you will have to be at the right place at the right time in order to achieve anything in life whether it’s your goals or dreams.
With that said, I know many people got to achieve their dreams due to their hard work and luck wasn’t even on their horizon whereas many achieved their dreams due to a chance they didn’t even expect to have. However, I would like to take this moment to share one of my favourite quotes which is “luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”.
Many people get their opportunity due to hard work whereas others by working smartly, so when you look at this aspect don’t you think there is always a tiny chance of getting closer to your dreams if you work for it and are at the right time in the right place?

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS?
I personally think the forgotten part of achieving a dream is not the ‘before’ or ‘during’ (which are always emphasised) but the ‘after’. What happens after you achieve a dream? You feel euphoric in the moment but what happens afterwards? Do you feel contentment or fulfilment? Or do you think about what your next dream is? Or do you not think about any of your dreams at all because this is already more than enough?
On the other hand, what happens if you don’t get to achieve your dreams whether you were close to accomplishing them or not. It’s completely natural to feel disappointment and sadness in the moment but what happens afterwards? Do you stop having dreams altogether or do you start working on your other dreams? Do you always anticipate for disappointment or do you hope for the best?
I wish dreams could be considered just as dreams, as something that’s beyond your expectations but still within your reach. They are a manifestation of your wants, needs & hope but they can’t always manifest in the ways you want. It’s okay to have a dream or not to have one, it’s okay if you get to achieve one or not but you shouldn’t allow them to dictate your life and forget your true self while in the pursuit of them.

In my opinion, everything we have in our minds and in our hearts come from what we need in life. Our dreams are ways of our spirit manifesting what it needs. I think the quote “if you can dream it, you can do it” is a little mistaken, not because dreams can’t come true, but because it’s not “you” who makes dreams happens, but the other way around.
“Do you even dream at all?” was a great question! Personally my dreams look more like “it would be cool if this happened”, but they’re not set goals I consciously place unto my mind…
Having a music studio in a forest on a misty mountain with all sorts of instruments and people coming over to play would be cool… Is it a dream? Maybe it’s an image that tells me I should look for more ways to be musical and engage other musicians. I’ll let you know if it comes true!
I love your interpretation! I truly believe that our dreams show another aspect of ourselves, sometimes something we haven’t even discovered yet. We might be able to achieve and make our dreams a part of our reality (who knows?) but the majority of the times, it allows us to achieve something close to it.
Also, your dream sounds absolutely lovely and dreamy. Please do let me know if it comes true! There is nothing better than someone achieving their dream.
