Growing up, we know so many things and aspects of our lives are defined by circumstances and even by other people’s actions & words. You never know when a life-changing moment could possibly happen and the most fascinating part is the fact that what someone would consider a mundane & random moment could be a defining moment in another person’s life and vice versa.
In today’s post, I wanted to explore with you this notion of luck and fate. We all know that there is such thing as luck even if we don’t let it dictate or rule our lives. Some people get an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through sheer luck whereas some don’t really go through an ounce of it in their lifetime, does that mean that their fate was the root cause of it or is it due to the opposite side of luck where some people are blessed and others just unlucky because their fate is predestined to it?

LUCK CAN CHANGE THE TRAJECTORY OF YOUR LIFE BUT SO CAN YOUR MINDSET
Luck can definitely change the trajectory of your life whether it’s through a sequence of events or through one singular event but I also think that your mindset can equally change the trajectory of your life. Some people even believe in the idea that your mindset can widen the distance or remove any of the lucky opportunities that were on your way.
I personally think that the way you perceive the world & yourself can fundamentally change your behaviour, actions and words thus creating endless opportunities, course of actions and paths in your life.

LUCK IS DEFINED BY PREPARATION
I firmly stand by the statement that luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Even if you get to encounter that one lucky chance in your life, if you haven’t prepared yourself—you wouldn’t be able to utilise that chance to its full potential or capacity. There is also this dark aspect where you might have lost the rare chances you received due to a lack of preparation.
Preparation doesn’t necessarily mean actions or skills, it could mean your thoughts, opinions, values and beliefs as well. If you weren’t able to go through certain experiences then you possibly couldn’t have gathered the knowledge and lessons which come with them either. Does that mean there is something much more influential and fleeting than luck?

CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR FATE?
Many people truly believe that their fate is determined way before they were born. Who you are, what you are going to do, what you are going to go through are things we have no control over. To a certain extent, I agree with that notion.
There are some things that are very fundamental to you, those things could have been a result of your environment & upbringing but there are certain things that are so inherently you that they couldn’t have been influenced or forced into yourself by outside factors. Those things represent an inner part of yourself, who knows what those things could lead to? A career, a loved one, a joy, a passion or even fulfilment.
I personally think when you start allowing yourself to follow what you really want, are and need in your life then anything you see around you can be a new chance or opportunity, and who knows maybe life, the universe or whatever you believe in, will give you that life-changing opportunity and you can decide whether you want to grab it or not. Fate might be a result of destiny but who said that it can’t be interchangeable?

I guess we can all fall into the woe is me situation, right, but somehow I claw my way from that to remembering why I am here and it is to be happy. I never thought of myself as lucky but in so many instances I guess I may have been, but maybe my fate was already laid out for me, I just had to right the ship a few times to get back to true north 🙂
