3 Things I Want to Focus On Each & Every Year.

It’s that time of the year where we either have a plan or goal in mind for this year or we have started implementing/are trying to work on our new year’s resolutions at this very second. Personally, the definition of goal and resolutions have changed tremendously to me.

I don’t view them the same way as I used to which doesn’t mean that I perceive them in a negative manner now. It’s pretty much the complete opposite. I have realised that any goal, dream or plan you have doesn’t have to be achieved this year or the year after, they can be achieved 10 years down the line and they will still be as worthy as they are now.

With that said, I don’t want to put too much emphasis on those goals & resolutions and want to give myself more grace which is something I lack/lacked in the past. However, there are certain things that I want to prioritise and put more focus on not only this year but every year in general. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

LIVING INSTEAD OF SURVIVING

Everyone goes through hardships in life and for some, their life might seem like a constant struggle. It might be very hard to find the light at the end of the tunnel or even to relax during those circumstances but if there is something that I’ve realised at the end of last year is the fact that life is meant to be living.

You have to survive in this world but if you only survive, you won’t be able to enjoy life anymore and most importantly, you won’t be able to enjoy those small joys in life that used to put a smile on your face anymore. When you are in a constant state of fear, anxiety & stress, you aren’t living – you are trying to survive. Do things that you and love enjoy no matter how insignificant or silly they may seem, those things will help you live.

ALWAYS PUTTING YOUR HEALTH FIRST

This is something I often talk about but now more than ever, I really want to put my entire attention to it and that is to always put my physical & mental health first before anything else. Other things may seem significant and important in life but if your body & mind aren’t working then you can’t function or do anything at all.

There is a reason why people say health is wealth because no amount of money can truly replace a person’s health, they can of course help someone’s health but when you have reached a point where money can’t improve or do anything about it then what’s the point of it? Your health shouldn’t be something you prioritise once in a while or when you are feeling unwell but it should be a priority and responsibility you take on yourself for yourself every single day whether it’s the food you consume, the environment you surround yourself with, things you do, etc.

INCORPORATING A STRESS-FREE LIFESTYLE

I truly believe if there is one enemy in this world that most people have it’s stress. It never brings or gives you anything good in life at all. Throughout the years, I found ways to cope with my anxiety & stress which worked but I really want my anxiety & stress to be a fleeting emotion that doesn’t need to have a coping mechanism.

I know that it’s a never-ending journey which fluctuates without a destination but I want to make it a peaceful journey where it doesn’t feel overwhelming but calming. Obviously, implementing methods to manage and reduce your stress will help a lot but I want these things to be more instinctual if that makes sense.
