Wearing the same thing every day can get a little boring. Some people do it to reduce “cognitive load,” but most of us just want to express ourselves.
Knowing what to wear, though, isn’t always easy. You don’t always know what fashion choices you should be making in your life.
This post is here to offer some advice. We look at some more daring options you should wear at least once. Let’s take a look.
TRY A NEW SILHOUETTE
First up, you might want to try a new silhouette that breaks with your personal sartorial tradition. For instance, if you’re the sort of person who always wears flares, you might swap them out for skinny jeans. It’s not that skinny jeans are unusual, it’s just that you’re the one wearing them (and people might not have seen that before).
Likewise, you might want to try a pantsuit if you usually wear blouses and skirts. Switching it up will again create an immediate impression on people and can cause them to look twice.
ACCESSORISE
You’ll also want to accessorize. Wearing statement pieces, like a chunky necklace can also stir things up a bit and make people notice.
The bigger the pieces, the better. For example, you could don some oversized earrings or wear a necklace with large emeralds studded in it.
You could also get a belly piercing and show it off when wearing your bikini or crop top. These look great in the summer.
COMBINE TEXTURES
Another popular approach is to combine textures. Mixing materials like denim, leather, or silk can create a new look people won’t have seen before.
Of course, getting it right is notoriously challenging. Pulling off a mixed-texture outfit requires quite a bit of experimentation. Nevertheless, if you can get it right, it will make a massive difference.
USE BRIGHTER COLOURS
Wearing brighter colours is one of the easiest, most daring fashion choices you can make. Instead of always wearing black and blue, putting on something bright yellow or pink can have a positive psychological effect, leaving you feeling great.
If you don’t want to make your entire outfit bright, you can just add pops of colour here and there. For example, you might wear a bright bangle with black pants or a colourful scarf with a gray coat.
MIX UP THE PROPORTIONS
Mixing up proportions is another way you can make your fashion choices more daring. Wearing clothes that change the emphasis on your figure gets people to notice immediately.
For example, you might wear a flowy skirt with a tight top or put on a tracksuit. These subtle changes in clothing can adjust how others see you and the impression you create at work or in social situations.
WEAR A HAT
Finally, you might consider wearing a hat at your next social occasion. While it was a common practice 100 years ago, it’s incredibly rare these days.
Hats give outfits extra character. They can also make you look taller. Choose from monochrome options to multi-coloured styles.
