I would say the beauty about memories is the fact you have no idea when they are being made. You could go on about a normal day, doing your work and spending quality time with your loved ones or just by yourself, and those moments might be something you cherish for years to come.
The same goes for mundane days, you might be bored and spend your time relaxing or without doing anything productive but you might yearn for those days in the future because you will realise that you weren’t going through any hardships during those moments.
In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some ways on how to make long-lasting memories. Ones which would make you look back at your time in the past fondly but also memorably. As always, if you’re interested – keep on reading!

PAYING ATTENTION TO SCENTS
There is a reason why perfumery has been extremely popular for years now, not only can you use it to smell nice but you can also use it to go back in time to a specific season, time or day in your life.
Smells have the ability to bring back memories and take us back to a specific moment in life, sometimes even a person if you can associate a scent to a person – that is the reason why many people choose a specific perfume on their special day because every time they use it, they want to get reminded of one of their best days in their lives.
Granted, perfumery can be extremely expensive and you can find something at every price range but if you have a sensitive nose then it can be quite tricky. However, smells aren’t only attached to perfumes but also to food, nature, candles, incenses, skincare & beauty products, etc. There is always something you can relate to in order to bring back vivid memories.

FULLY INDULGING YOURSELF INTO THOSE MOMENTS OF JOY & RELAXATION
This might be something subjective but I’ve noticed that the memories – both good & bad – I remember the most vividly are the ones where I was fully present in the moment.
The majority of the time, we don’t really allow ourselves to fully indulge in moments of joy or relaxation without feeling guilt and this could be for various reasons, guilt for not being productive, guilt for having an easy day/life compared to another person, guilt for thinking this is only temporary, etc.
But regardless of your situation, if you have the opportunity to spend a moment of joy & happiness or relaxation – do not think about anything else and allow yourself to experience those emotions without any guilt. Those days will turn out to be memories you will remember for years.

SLOWLY SOAKING IN THOSE EVERYDAY MOMENTS
This point summarises both the previous points, there is no way to figure out which days you might long and yearn for and which days you won’t, the only way to find out is by enjoying those everyday joys. I would even go as far as saying to soak in those moments in a slow pace. Not everything is meant to be consumed in a fast manner, sometimes taking things at a slower rate might make you appreciate those things, people and moments even more.
