I always felt like September was the start of a new year rather than January, and I do think it’s normal because it’s the start of a new academic year.
There is a lot more pressure, anticipation and even anxiety about what this year is going to entail, and maybe that’s the reason why I view this time of the year as a season of reflection.
In today’s post, I wanted to share why autumn is the season of reflection to me and why it could be the perfect time to do the same thing during this season of your life.

A FRESH NEW START
As I mentioned above, September is usually the start of a new academic year and it has always given me this feeling of having a brand new start at life. I think this sentiment is applicable to all seasons but with autumn, you can see the change both literally and figuratively.
We go from one extreme weather to another, our surrounding reflects the change in atmosphere and the same goes for bank holidays. There is a cozy undertone during this season which also helps make any start less daunting.

A PERIOD OF IN-BETWEEN
This season represents the last months of the year but you could say it’s giving way for the beginning of a new year as well. There is a bit of uncertainty attached to this season but it’s also welcoming in a way—there is space for a slow & steady growth.

A SEASON OF CONTEMPLATION
I personally think this season is synonymous with contemplation, it’s a time to sit down and reflect on the past but also dream, wish and plan for the future. It allows you to focus on your present as well, there is a reason why people always associate this time of the year with snuggling in your cozy space with your favourite TV show or a book, or spending quality time with your loved ones at home with comfort food—reflection or contemplation isn’t necessarily cold, it could be warm as well.
