5 Dream Home Improvements if Money Was No Object.

Imagine you won the lottery and had the money to spend on whatever home improvements you’d like.

What would you choose?

A huge extension with a brand new state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with a fridge-freezer that did the shopping for you when you ran out of milk?

Or perhaps a helicopter landing pad for when your A-list celebrity friends popped over for cocktails?

Obviously, if you live in a central London apartment, your choices are going to be limited. After all, you’re not going to be able to have an extension, or fit a heated outdoor swimming pool on your balcony.

But let’s pretend you’ve got not only the funds but the space too to have whatever you like in your dream home.

Here are five home improvements if money was no object.

LIBRARY

A library is the ultimate home improvement fantasy for any bookworm. Some people regard shelves full of books as simply more clutter that needs to be dusted. Other people would say you can never have too many shelves stacked with books and we agree!

An entire room as a library would be amazing. Shelves from floor to ceiling on every wall full of books and comfy sofas and chairs to sit on while you lock yourself away to read at your leisure.

Bliss.

HOME CINEMA

If reading’s not your thing, but movies are, then a home cinema will be perfect for you. Buy a massive screen the size of the wall, install surround-sound speakers and fill the floor with cinema-style seating.
All you need to do then is buy the popcorn and invite your friends round to hang out in your home cinema to watch your favourite films.

HOME GYM

If reading and watching films involves too much sitting down for you, how about a home gym?

To be honest, a home gym isn’t that far out of most people’s reach. After all, plenty of people use a spare room or summer house as their gym or convert their garage or basement into one.

But if money was no object, you could have state-of-the-art equipment, surround-sound stereo for your working out tracks and a huge screen on the wall for those on-demand classes that are so popular.

HOME PUB

If just the thought of a home gym wears you out, don’t worry, here’s another suggestion that involves sitting down.

You can go as far as you like with a home pub. It can simply be a room with a beer fridge, pool table and a dart board, or you could go the whole hog and build a replica Rovers Return, Woolpack or Queen Victoria.

Of course, you may prefer something more sophisticated. In which case, there’s nothing stopping you from creating a fancy cocktail bar and only allow your friends in if they’re wearing ball gowns.

DRESSING ROOM

Wouldn’t it be fab to have a whole room in which to not only keep your clothes but that has enough space for you to get dressed in comfortably?

You’d have not only mirrored wardrobes for your clothes but shoe racks for your shoe collection (because, let’s face it, if you’re the type of person who yearns for a dressing room, you probably have a shoe collection), drawers for your jewellery and a dressing table for you to sit in front of to do your hair and make-up (or have it done for you if you’re really rich!)

These are just a few home improvement ideas if money was no object. Which would you choose?

  1. My dream is to have a home photographic studio – one to take pictures in and a space to develop film in. Hiring one is just too costly, so this would my ultimate home improvement splurge.

  2. Very nice article. I would love to have all of those things in my house – maybe one day! I would need a very big house for all those things because they take up lots of space.
