Tetra Pak cartons are made with 75% paper, 20% polyethylene, and 5% aluminium which makes TetraPak recycling possible. Heat and pressure are used to layer these three materials together, which protect the contents in the pack from dirt, air, light, moisture, and oxygen. Tetra Pak uses an aseptic technology that lets the products in it stay fresh without using any preservatives. Tetra Pak cartons are light in weight which makes them easy to transport. The layering is so perfect that until the pack is opened, it does not need refrigeration.
Here are the benefits of using Tetra Pak.
TETRA PAK CARTONS ARE RECYCLABLE
The paperboard used in Tetra Pak cartons is used to make paper products. The aluminium and polythene that make up 25% of the Tetra Pak carton are recycled to make roof sheets and panel boards. Once the cartons are sorted out, they are sent to a Tetra pak recycling plant. Here the paper gets separated from aluminium and polyethylene using the hydra pulping process. This is then converted to various products.
FOOD STORED IN THE TETRA PAK DOES NOT REQUIRE PRESERVATIVES
Be it juices, milk, or any kind of liquid food, the liquid stored in a Tetra Pak carton does not need any preservatives. The milk that is stored in the carton is sterilized by an ultra-heat treatment technique, ensuring that it does not have any microorganisms in it. The milk is then mechanically packed with no chances of adulteration. The aseptic technology keeps the food fresh and flavourful for 6 months without the need for any preservatives or refrigeration. The food also retains its nutrition, taste, and colour.
TETRA PAKS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Tetra Pak packaging is made of paper which can be recycled. There have been several analyses and studies done to assess the greenhouse gas emission from varied packaging formats like PET, glass bottles, HDPE containers, metal cans, etc. Tetra Pak cartons are generally attributed to causing a lower impact on the environment.
STATE OF THE ART RECIPE
The packaging protects from the inside out. The company studies the needs of the consumers and understands the market gaps. They then carry out continuous research to develop formulas and recipes to ensure that what goes inside the pack also follows a state-of-the-art formula.
THE WOOD USED IN THE CARTONS ARE SOURCED RESPONSIBLY
The Tetra Pak packaging complies with the requirements of forest management and wood fiber traceability. The wood fiber comes from forests that are certified as per the sustainable forest management programs. So the Tetra Pak that you choose is a responsible and a green choice.
TETRA PAKS ARE A TRUE WINNER
Tetra Pak packaging has become synonymous with beverage cartons. Made of 75% paper and layered with aluminium and polythene, the packaging is prepared to preserve the liquids for long without the need for refrigeration and preservatives.
These can be recycled too and thus are environmentally friendly. It takes less energy to make the Tetra Pak, and they are a winner when it comes to helping the climate.
The fact that the Tetra Pak cartons are lighter to transport and the empty packs can fit flat, you can fit more of them into the shipment as compared to bottles or glass. Even when filled, the shape of the Tetra Pak cartons is such that they use the space optimally.
