3 Things Bloggers Don’t Talk About.

Throughout the years, I’ve realised and learnt so many life lessons though my blog. I still can’t believe that in a year/two, my blog would be a decade old. It’s just so surreal and crazy to me. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 3 things that bloggers don’t often talk about. These are not necessarily bad things but I thought it would be important to share them with you. Without further ado, let’s jump into the post!

YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR BLOG WILL FLUCTUATE

It’s completely normal to get uninspired or lose your motivation when it comes to your blog. It’s not a bad thing at all. The same goes for your love and passion for your blog. It will fluctuate throughout your blogging journey. Some days, you will feel extremely productive and some days, you will be asking yourself if the work you are doing is really worth it. It doesn’t mean that you’ve lost your passion for your blog, it just means that you either need to take a break or have a look at your blog to find out why you feel this way.

IT’S VERY EASY TO GET LOST IN NUMBERS

As much as everyone says, not to focus on numbers and not to compare yourself with other bloggers, we are all humans and you can easily get distracted. No matter how much you read or get preached about it, your mind will still wander around those thoughts once in a while. It takes a lot of self-control to not check or focus on numbers and it’s not something easy at all. To be completely honest with you, I don’t check my stats anymore unless I really have to and it’s definitely liberating. Don’t force yourself to stop checking them all together, try to check them once in a while if you find yourself losing in numbers.

BLOGGING IS A CHOICE

Last but not least, blogging is a choice. So many people stop blogging when they don’t see the results they expect to see or when they have to prioritise their responsibilities in real life over their blogs. Once again, it’s not something bad at all. Sometimes, your blog will have to take a step back but remember that you are the one who is in control. Whether you decide to blog or not, do not let a third party or another person influence your decision of blogging. The choice is always in your hands.

  1. Seems like good advice! I often have to take mini breaks as I do have other hobbies and such outside of blogging . I do want to try a bit of game blogging but much like makeup, it also requires a ton of pictures ! So getting them all in order and uploaded can be a drag LOL.

  2. I felt this in my soul! Thank you for saying this out loud. I have very little “marketing” experience that I’m trying to grow to really push myself out there and it gets really disheartening to look at analytics that don’t seem to be going anywhere! I’ve only been checking them once a month. It stops me from trying to constantly tweak what I’m doing and losing the focus with what I love so much. Thank you again for this!

  3. I understand losing interest in blogging now and then. I’m kind of on a waning period with posting at the moment. Hope to get back on it soon, but we’ll see…

  4. I hate my blog, I love my blog. Check with me on the day and I’ll tell you how I really feel. I would add a fourth thing: if you want numbers and hits, it really does become a marketing effort. There’s nothing wrong with that … but most bloggers never think about that going into the creation. They focus more on what they want to say and not how it will spread out from there. This is an area that I haven’t spent a ton of time and effort and probably would frustrate me more if I was looking for bigger numbers! And oh yea, for what it’s worth, today I love my blog!

  5. This is great advice for me as someone just starting out! Those stats are very addictive to look at but something I am weary of not becoming too obsessed with!

  6. This is so true! I think it’s also always very important to remind yourself why you started blogging and why you’re still blogging. Don’t allow external voices guide the direction of your blog, for example for me it’s suggestions of monetizing my blog or people asking how long I’ve been blogging and how much I’m making. To some people it’s crazy that you out time, effort and creativity into something that isn’t bringing financial gain. This is when it’s important to review the modus operandi, thank you for the list😊

  7. I always feel torn between wanting to just write and be authentic but also needed it to be super polished because I have a business, that I really care about and believe in. I put a lot of pressure on myself! I think we all do. But I want to push through and reading others blogs really inspires me.
