3 Things That Revive My Inner Child.

If there is one thing I’m extremely sure of right now is the fact that in order to experience peace & joy in your life, you should never let go of the inner child that resides inside your heart. I don’t understand the reason as to why some people might believe that connecting with your inner child is a sign of childishness or worse a lack of maturity.

In my personal opinion, I think that listening to your inner child’s voice is what will help you keep a clear mindset and move forward in life without succumbing to the darkness or the obstacles you face along the way. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some ways on how to revive your inner child. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

RE-DOING YOUR FAVOURITE THINGS AS A CHILD

One of the easiest ways to revive your inner child is by doing the things you enjoyed doing as a child whether it’s watching your favourite TV show/cartoon/movie, reading your favourite book, going to your favourite spots, eating your favourite food, drawing, playing an instrument, etc. Granted you can do all the current things you are enjoying right now as an adult but there is something special, almost magical when you are doing things that made you smile as a child years later but now as a grown up.

REVISITING YOUR FOND MEMORIES

I think this depends on each person and their circumstance, if I am being completely honest I have more not so great memories as a child than happy ones. For a period of time, I couldn’t even enjoy some of the happy moments I experienced in the past because fundamentally I realised those weren’t real but more like an illusion I had at that time which subconsciously might have had an impact on me.

With that said, I do have some joyful and fond memories when I think about my childhood. I learnt to disassociate or you could say exclude things or people in those memories that weren’t authentic or aren’t a part of my life anymore and just savour the emotions I felt during those moments. At the end of the day, those memories are mine to cherish and the emotions I felt during that time were real so why ruin or erase something that made me feel happy and invalidate my own feelings because of a third party?

FOLLOWING YOUR CHILDHOOD HOBBIES

This might tie with the previous two points but there is something very nostalgic about following a childhood hobby of yours. It makes you travel back in time and remind you of the joy you felt when doing this passion of yours. I do believe there is a reason why we always gravitate towards certain hobbies or passions as an adult because they have a direct correlation or connection with the things we enjoyed doing or wanted to do as a child. I don’t think you will feel anything other than happiness by following and doing what your heart wanted to do when you were young and excited by the world.

  1. I started building my bookcase with all the books I loved in my childhood, so my little one can have the same fond memories and that helped me find my inner child and center me that little bit more. I found my lost love of reading and it has sparked me getting back into books
