This is something I’ve been thinking for a while but how often do we come across tips & advices in the blogging community in terms of makeup, style, relationships, friendships, blog growth, etc. and how often do we feel them to be applicable?
As a blogger who writes about my own personal experiences and lessons I’ve learnt along the way, I am mindful about the information I write and make sure that it is both objective & subjective in the sense I know it worked for me and has the possibility to work for another person but at the same time I’m very aware that it totally depends on each person’s circumstance and their own personality & way of living so it has the possibility not to work either.
With that said, I also like to read other bloggers’ tips & advices and some of them have helped me reflect on myself and on the things I’ve been doing whether it be on my blog or in my personal life. However, I do know that when there is an abundance of advice – it can be very overwhelming and difficult to figure out what to do especially if it’s something that you aren’t really sure about.
In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some ways on figuring out what to do if you come across advices in the blogging sphere that seem to work for every single person and not for you or simply advices that don’t seem to align with your way of thinking and you can’t help feeling unsure if they would truly work for you. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

IS IT CATERED FOR YOU SPECIFICALLY OR FOR ANYONE?
One of the biggest things that helped me curate all the advices & tips in the blogging sphere is by taking into consideration whether those posts were written for someone like me or for anyone in general. For instance, when it comes to blogging advice – are those tips applicable for my niche or for any niche in general? Are those tips meant for a small blog or for a blog with a large audience?
Sometimes, the reason why those advices don’t work isn’t because you are doing something wrong, it’s simply because those things don’t work in your case and there is no reason to push yourself doing these things if they really don’t work for you.

IS IT SUBJECTIVE OR OBJECTIVE?
Another thing that really helped me sort through all those articles in terms of tips is knowing whether those information were written from experience or by compiling experiences from others. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying any blogger shouldn’t write any tips from a general standpoint but if you are thinking about applying those tips into your life or blog then it’s important to acknowledge whether it was written from a subjective or objective perspective.

DOES IT HELP YOU IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM?
Last but not least, before feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated and overworked by those types of posts – ask yourself if those posts have the potential to help you in any shape or form? Not every advice you read needs to be taken into consideration, not everything you read might work for you, not everything you read should be taken seriously and vice versa.
A blogger in the same boat as you might write something helpful but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will work for you. Always read everything you read online with a grain of salt including my blog as well. At the end of the day, you are the only one who knows what’s best for you.

Hey NL 🙂
I find this excellent! Maybe especially today — because I just published a post about a Q&A situation I’ve been in … in which the person purportedly engaging with the public actually (apparently?) disengages with me. 😐
I’ve written about it here:
Crickets … – Socio Business blog
I find this quite upsetting … and I have a pretty strong hunch that this sort of stuff happens because of economic motivations which would be somewhat at odds with actually (really) engaging. 😦
I go into it in detail, and also provide links which hopefully provide more context.
This is (I feel) a rather widespread failure WRT communications online — people simply feel like they can ignore something (and then maybe their ignorant behavior might make it go away ?!? ).
Thanks for throwing your ever-understanding eye on it!
Please feel free to give me any feedback (like maybe I need to go outside and blow off some steam? 😛 ).
🙂 Norbert
