WRITING IT DOWN

If you’ve been feeling angry, sad, anxious, ashamed or envious then writing down your thoughts & emotions on a piece of paper will help you out tremendously. Not only does it allow you to verbalise your thoughts, but it also allows you to let them out privately.

You don’t have to be self-conscious or worry about what others will think if that’s one of your concerns especially if you don’t feel comfortable sharing your emotions with your loved ones either due to fear of judgement or personal preference. If you are struggling to formulate words or sentences, you can just scribble on the paper.

You could go a step further and just tear out or throw away the piece of paper you’ve written on. At the end of the day, this isn’t journaling but an outlet to surrender your feelings. You will be able to see your thoughts both in an objective and subjective manner, and come to the realisation as to why you feel this way and what’s the next best step.

PLAYING A FIGHTING GAME

There is pretty much a combat system on almost all video games and if gaming is one of your hobbies then why not take advantage of it? I don’t necessarily think that transferring all your pent-up anger or frustration into a NPC is the way to go haha, but releasing your energy in a game which requires you to be strategic as well as efficient can alleviate your negative emotions. For instance, the Mario Kart and the Legend of Zelda series are great examples in that aspect, or any games that require you to do a battle or race.

SLEEPING IT OFF

If you find yourself being consumed by anger or hatred then I would highly recommend eating a meal to fill your stomach and going to sleep afterwards whether it’s a nap or a proper sleep, is totally up to your mood & body at that moment, but just go to bed.

You will feel completely different by the time you wake up and you will be able to see things more clearly. It also prevents you from misdirecting those negative emotions to your loved ones, the last thing you want is to unconsciously be irritated towards them because you weren’t able to process them by yourself.
