Have you ever felt stressed or anxious before an important day? It doesn’t matter if that day is significant or insignificant in the grand scheme of things but you just aren’t able to function or think of anything else because you are so consumed by the day you are going to have tomorrow.

ASK THE ONE QUESTION YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF

The only question you need to ask yourself the day before is how prepared are you? For instance, if you have a presentation then ask yourself if you’ve prepared everything when it comes to the presentation. If you have a doctor’s appointment then ask yourself if you have prepared all the letters, medications & important details you need to bring to that appointment.

Once you have answered that question and know that there isn’t anything else to do in regards to that event, day or situation then don’t think about it anymore which is easier said than done but there is literally no point in overthinking about it since you’ve already done your best in regards to it.

Another question you could ask yourself in this situation is do you really have to go through it? However, this question can be only asked if you are self-aware and can think objectively about yourself and your circumstance. In all honestly, most of us don’t want to go through a stressful situation or time so the answer will of course be a no but if you are able to discern if you want to avoid that day because of your own inhibitions or due to discomfort or any other reason then you can make the best choice for yourself.

KEEP YOUR MIND BUSY

Forcing yourself to have a relaxing day the day before might seem like a good idea but it’s not really practical and you won’t truly feel relaxed or at peace. Working on tasks that keeps your mind busy will help alleviate the stress you’re experiencing and the more focused you are on something else, the easier it would be to keep yourself calm and relaxed.

PREPARE A REWARD FOR YOURSELF FOR THE BEFORE & AFTER

This is something I’ve been doing for the past few years and I would highly recommend doing it when you are going through a stressful or difficult situation, any hardships or obstacles in life. Prepare a reward for yourself the day before and the next day, this will not only help you forget about your stressful day but it will also motivate you to push through that day because you have something exciting waiting for you.
