6 Luxuries Most People Take For Granted in Life.

As the end of the year approaches, I think it’s time when everyone reflects and wonders about where they are in life and what they have/achieved so far into the year. As each year passes by, I find myself trying to figure out who I am as a person but I know it’s going to be a journey without a destination.

However, while I’m navigating this journey I find myself thinking that there are so many things you should be grateful for and some of them might even be considered as a luxury in today’s world. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 6 luxuries that most of us take for granted. Without further ado, let’s jump into the post!

A BORING DAY

We live in a society where productivity is celebrated and relaxation is earned, that’s the reason why most people feel bad or even guilty when they have a slow day or didn’t do anything productive with their day. But when it comes to a boring day, it makes things much worse because not only does it make you seem that you haven’t done something productive but it also makes you feel that you aren’t moving forward and making any progress.

However, I think that couldn’t be further from the truth. A boring day equates to you recharging your battery but it also means that you haven’t encountered any hardships, obstacles or issues that day which is a luxury in itself. A busy day might sound better but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t go through any problems that day. A boring day gives you the opportunity to simply relax & enjoy the slow mundane things in life.

YOUR TIME

I’m pretty sure this is something you already know and have heard but time is a luxury. If you have the opportunity to plan something ahead, delegate a task for another day, procrastinate a task for another hour or even find yourself wishing that time could pass quicker or slower then you have one of the most luxurious things in your hands which is time.

Your time is one of the most valuable things you could ever give to someone and that’s the reason why most people tell you to be mindful about the way you spend your time whether it be by yourself or with someone else because you will never get the time spent back again.

GOOD HEALTH

This is another thing that many people already know but I cannot stress how important it is that you know having good health is a luxury. Not being in pain emotionally or physically allows you to live your life the way you want which is something that you shouldn’t take for granted.

A PEACEFUL MIND

We all go through ups & downs but if you have a day where you find yourself at peace then remember it’s a luxury. Our minds are our biggest enemies, they are constantly overworking themselves to find faults or nitpick situations, words & actions that should be overlooked. While it might be effective and helpful during certain situations, most of the time it just increases your stress levels which doesn’t help bring any joy or peace in your life.

A WARM HOME

Having a warm home is one of the most luxurious things you could have, both figuratively and literally. If you have a warm place to go to then you already have a home where you can rest and enjoy the small joys in life. If you have a place that emits warmth because of the people you live with then you have a home where you can spend quality time with your loved ones and experience joy & happiness with them.

THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE

Last but not least, if you have the option to choose whatever you want to do then you already have the luxury to choose the trajectory of your life. Whether it goes the way you envision is a different matter but having the luxury to choose both significant and insignificant things in your life is something irreplaceable and something you shouldn’t take for granted.

  1. I love this! Such a beautiful reminder ✨️ my health used to be so bad and because of medication given for a completely different situation I am now in a better place, in the future I will have to be lowered on it which is scary because I don’t want to go back to where I used to be but for now I don’t take my good days for granted!

Also I like how you added in about boring days because it’s so easy to hate them but they are truly something to be grateful for because no news is good news! Super great post, thank you for giving me pause for thought 💗

  2. Time and good health are mostly taken for granted by young people. As I progress to enter my 40s I have become more appreciative on my time and my health…and yes, the freedom of choice is also something that is luxury especially in today’s economy.
