Hey Loves! Welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to test some makeup brushes from Makeup Revolution. I’m pretty sure you all know how much I love their eyeshadow palettes so when they came out with makeup brushes, I knew I had to try them out! I’ve been using these brushes for more than 8 months now on an everyday basis, I wanted to make sure that my review was helpful for you so if you’re interested then keep on reading!

If you check their website, you can see they’ve released a lot of makeup brushes since I bought these brushes, I’ve only bought their complete face and eye sets (you can buy these brushes individually as well) which includes in total 6 brushes:
✘ 1 Concealer Brush | F102
✘ 1 Powder Brush | F104
✘ 1 Foundation Brush | F101
✘ 1 Eyeshadow Brush | E101
✘ 1 Eyeshadow Blending Brush | E103
✘ 1 Eyebrow Brush | E104
Packaging – 4/5
I found the packaging pretty simple because everything is in black which gives instantly a classic effect, the handle is steady unlike the brushes you buy from Amazon or eBay considering the price point. The brand is engraved on the handle in gold including the brush reference.
Usually drugstore brushes don’t have references, they have generic names like ‘powder brush’ and most of the times, they aren’t even written on the brushes. However with these, you’ve the reference number which gives Morphe & Sigma vibes but not only that if you check the reference name, the E stands for eye and the F stands for face which I found it cool.
Brush Quality – 2/5
In my opinion, the quality of the brushes you use makes a huge difference when applying your makeup. I’ve learnt it since day one because I used to buy cheap makeup brushes which retailed for only a couple of bucks, they looked nice but felt the opposite. It was so hard to apply your makeup and using these brushes reminded me of those brushes.
All the face brushes feel a bit rough and especially the blending brush (E103), when I was using this brush to blend into my crease – it was very uncomfortable. The bristles weren’t soft at all, you can definitely see the difference between a brush who has soft bristles compared to these.
On the other hand, the eyebrow and eyeshadow brushes were fine. The bristles weren’t soft but at the same time, you were able to work with them – it didn’t feel as uncomfortable as the previous ones.
Performance – 3/5
I’ve used both drugstore and high end products to check if there were any differences when using these brushes, I’ve even used the Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes to see how their brushes worked with their own formula.
When it comes to the face brushes, they didn’t give the most flattering finish at all. The foundation brush (F101) wasn’t easy to work with, you can only apply powder foundations using this brush and it intensified my pores when applying it. The powder and concealer brushes are the same, it’s very hard for the product to stay on the brushes and you literally have to scoop the brush into the product.
When it comes to eye brushes, I don’t have anything to say apart that they blend well and do their job. As I mentioned previously, the blending brush felt very uncomfortable on my eyes when using it but did a good job at blending.
Overall Review
The face brushes are definitely a miss for me, they intensified my pores and were very difficult to work with. You are only able to use powder products with these brushes, if you use liquid or cream products then it’s a disaster. I’ve dry and sensitive skin and maybe which is another reason why the face brushes didn’t work for me.
I liked their eye brushes, they did a good job but although the blending brush did a job at blending – it felt very uncomfortable on my eyes because the bristles were very rough.
Apart from the eyebrow and eyeshadow brushes (E101 & E104), I wouldn’t recommend the rest of the brushes I’ve used. They’re inexpensive compared to other drugstore brushes but in my opinion, Primark brushes are better than these if you’ve to compare with the price.
HAVE YOU USED ANY MAKEUP REVOLUTION BRUSHES?
xo N
I haven’t tried the revolution brushes BUT I do love the Morphe ones (online only) and they are quite cheap also. Great post!
I haven’t tried them yet but I’ll check them out! Thank you! x
Loved this review 👌🏻 very detailed so as a reader i know what to expect if i buy those brushes!
Thank you so much lovely! 💗
I have tried one of their brushes and it came with one of the MUR palettes, and I’m obsessed with it, I always use it and I was thinking about getting some more. Great post 💋❤
Thank you! 😘 Oh that sounds good, is it a face brush?
I have both Makeup Revolution and Primark brushes and the Primark are the best! Even between another low cost brands, Primark has the a much superior quality. Neverthless, the Makeup Revolution eyebrow brush is my current favorite brush for doing eyeline, both cream and powder!
Good Review 🙂
Thank you! ❤️ I completely agree with you, the Primark brushes are way softer compared to MUR brushes and I wasn’t even expecting that! I love the eyebrow brush as well!
Loving your honesty! They do look pretty & I like the fact they’ve got the brushes engraved but if they don’t feel comfortable to blend then I won’t be getting them! P.S just wanted to drop a comment to say I’ve tagged you in The Mystery Blogger Award 😊 Let me know if/when you do your post! I’d love to read your answers xx
Thank you so much love! I was expecting so much from them since it’s one of my favourite drugstore brand but I’m kinda disappointed. And thank you so much for nominating me, I’ll do my best to do and post it as soon as possible – I promise! xx
So sad to hear the blending brush wasn’t that good! I love their eyeshadows!
I have a blending brush from primark that is no good either haha
I love their eyeshadows so I was expecting so much from their brushes but yeah unfortunately it wasn’t that great. I do have a couple of Primark brushes and so far I love them! x
I’ve never used these brushes but I love the all black packaging. I agree that it gives it a “classic” look and I think that’s best when selling a product!
Exactly! I always check the packaging when buying something, even if the product isn’t great – I’ll still keep it if I like the packaging lol x
I dislike these brushes too x
So glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like time! x
Never tried these brushes but your post has tempted me !
Try them, they’re very affordable and some of these brushes are really good x
I love makeup revolution! I’m going to have to give their brushes a try
I love them too! Give it a try, some of their brushes are really good considering the price x
I really like their brushes xx
Some of their brushes are really good but I didn’t like all of them to be honest xx
I’m so sad that the brushes aren’t great! I’m a big fan of their makeup so I was expecting big things
Me too! I love their eyeshadow palettes so I was expecting a lot from their brushes but it wasn’t really worth it for me personally x
Hi pretty! 🙂 I adore Revolution makeup.. I have a collection myself, and their brushes look like they are incredible, but they are not so effective.. The glittery makeup falls off the brush and you can’t really pick up the product as good.. On the other hand their palettes, lipsticks and highlighters I highly recommend!
P.S. I love your blog. Good work!
Thank you love! ❤️ I absolutely love makeup products from Makeup Revolution as well and on a side note – I’ve to try their highlighters! I’ve only tried one of their highlighters so far 😅 the same thing happened to me as well when using glittery eyeshadows but once I saw the bristles, I knew it wouldn’t work.. it’s so disappointing because I had such high expectations 😔
Maybe they should avoid brushes haha. Also I have tried the fixing spray. It works okay, but after a while it kind of melts down, I can’t explain.. Also, their baking powder is really good! Keep up the good work ❤
Haha I think so too! I haven’t tried their fixing spray but I know what you’re talking about, some setting sprays do have a ‘melt down’ finish. I haven’t tried their baking powder either, I’ll make sure to check it out next time in Superdrug! Once again thank you hun 😘
