CONTROL YOUR MIND
The main thing to understand is the fact that we are the ones who control our emotions, feelings and mind. The way we control our minds can change a lot of things.
Ask yourself why you’re having a bad day and why it’s ruining the rest of your day. Identify the source of your bad day, from that way you’ll find out and realise how to get over that negativity whether that means removing yourself from a toxic environment or person.
You always have the option to let go or remove yourself from any negativity. All this negativity can disappear instantly once you start to look at the positive aspect of your life.
LET IT OUT
Once you have identified the reason why you’re having a bad day, you can change the perspective you have for the rest of your day. The only way to do that is to let out all those negative feelings in one way or another.
Talk to someone that you trust whether it’s your parents, sibling, best friend, etc. Tell them your situation, your feelings, emotions, etc. If you don’t have someone to talk to, you can always write!
It’s my favourite method to let go of any negative emotions. Not only will you be able to express your thoughts in a written format but the second you finish writing, you’ll feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
RELAX!
Now it’s time to relax! In order to recover from a bad day, you have to do things that make you forget the world and enjoy the present. It can be going outside, listening to music, watching films, drawing, cooking, etc.
It’s all about doing an activity that makes you forget your problems and puts you in a positive mood. In my case, ever since I’ve moved, I’ve been loving staying at home since how bright the house I’m currently living is! All the rooms are so bright and airy, it instantly lifts my mood. I’d say it has improved my mental health quite a lot as well.
Most of the houses here in the UK have a conservatory with lantern roofs which I had one in the previous house I lived. Whenever I felt down, I’d usually go there and read a book or look outside which helped me feel better. If you don’t have a conservatory, look outside from your balcony or windows, it’ll help you feel relaxed in some kind of way.
IT’S OKAY
Last but not least, everyone has a bad day and you are not the only one who is going through it. In order to recover from a bad day, you have to accept the fact that having a bad day is okay and the feelings/emotions you are going through are only temporary.
Try to keep a positive attitude and think about the positive things in your life. We all have so many things to be grateful for! Tomorrow is a brand new day so don’t let yesterday’s disappointments overshadow tomorrow’s achievements!

‘The main thing to understand is the fact that we are the ones who control our emotions, feelings and mind.’ Realizing this was super impactful and freeing for me.
I’m glad to hear that ☺️
Just by reading your post I recovered my day. Beautiful post and thank you!
Thank youu! ☺️
🙏
Controlling my mind, I find, is quite difficult to do. In order to recover from a bad day I’ll drink some hot tea or wine, depending on how bad of a day it is, and listen to music that describes the reason why I’m stressing.
That’s a great tip as well! You gotta do what works for you 👌🏼 Thanks for reading x
Such a helpful post – I feel like I read it at the right time as I’ve been struggling a bit today! For me I think the most important thing is to step back and consider why I’m having a bad day, and make sure I let those emotions out. Chances are it’s just tiny things that have ended up snowballing where I haven’t let them out! Venting is so helpful, but i need to get back into the habit of journalling for the times when I’ve not got anyone to talk to rather than bottling it up! Thanks for sharing xx
Thank you lovely! Journalling is a must for me! xx
Great post 🙂
Thank you! 💕
Thank you for your tips! The “control your mind” part is what I struggle with. I stew and stew and stew about whatever’s upsetting me and I can’t ever seem to get over it. Because I can’t get over it, I don’t want to talk about it and I’d rather process it by myself. I’m going to try to be more open and to take control over my mood instead of allowing it to shut me down.
My pleasure love! I used to be the same way! And then I would get irritated and angry for no reason. That’s the reason why now I let everything out. I instantly feel better and I know everything will be alright at the end x
Yeah, I’m the same way. I like to process it myself instead of trying to talk it over and then accidentally snapping on someone. Something that could help people like you and me is writing it in a journal or even just a on a piece of paper and then recycling it.
good advice!
Thank you, Jim! ☺️
So important to remember that bad times are only temporary. I’m def guilty of “catastrophizing” sometimes and thinking that everything is the absolute worst. Letting it out and venting to someone you trust + relaxation can def make it easier to move on from a bad day.
Exactly! 🙌🏼💗
Thanks for sharing! Needed this today x
My pleasure! x
Lovely reminder that we all need to decompress and recalibrate everyday.
Thank you!
Great advise!
Wonderful and informative post.
Thank you so much, Jerry!
I agree that it’s imperative that we keep in mind that our life crises are only temporary and that, overall, things are going to be okay. We live in a world where, for most of us, we aren’t going to starve to death or become homeless. There’s always a way to find gratitude.
So true!
This is beautiful and really helpful. Well done.
Thank you! So glad you found it helpful x
