How To: Strobing | 101 Guide

Strobing used to be so popular a couple of years ago when your highlighter had to be popping to the max. I’m not going to lie, I’ve never been a fan of intense highlighters but on the other hand, if you are a fan of it then this post is for you! WHAT IS STROBING?

If you weren’t familiar with the term strobing before, it’s the name given when you use a specific technique to highlight your face to the maximum. This technique is mainly used during the summertime but obviously you can do it whenever you want.

In addition, this technique doesn’t only apply to your face, you can use it on your body as well if you apply highlighter on certain parts of your body for instance your decolletage, your legs, etc.

Si vous n’étiez pas familier avec le terme strobing auparavant, c’est le nom donné lorsque vous utilisez une technique spécifique pour mettre en valeur votre visage au maximum. Cette technique est principalement utilisée en été, mais vous pouvez évidemment le faire quand vous le souhaitez.

En outre, cette technique ne s’applique pas seulement à votre visage, vous pouvez également l’utiliser sur votre corps si vous appliquez un illuminateur sur certaines parties de votre corps, par exemple votre décolletage, vos jambes, etc.

STEPS

The process is very similar to cream contouring, in order for your highlight to pop, you need to apply a cream base underneath and that’s what strobing is all about. In this case, you need a cream highlighter.

You apply the cream highlighter on the usual place you want to highlight for example on the top of your cheekbones, tip of your nose, underneath your brow bone, etc. There are either in a stick or in a jelly base format. I’ve added some drugstore and high-end options down below.

Vous appliquez l’illuminateur crème à l’endroit habituel que vous souhaitez mettre en valeur, par exemple sur le dessus des pommettes, le bout de votre nez, sous votre arcade sourcilière, etc. Il existe soit dans un format de bâtonnet, soit dans un format de base de gelée/confiture. J’ai ajouté quelques options de pharmacie et haut de gamme en bas.

Then, apply a highlighter on top. Some people prefer to use two highlighters for an extreme effect which is up to your preference. You have to take into consideration that some highlighters are more pigmented than others therefore if you use one pigmented highlighter, it’s obviously going to look way more intense than two subtle highlighters. I’ve added some of my favourite drugstore and high-end highlighters down below.

Ensuite, appliquez un illuminateur sur le dessus. Certaines personnes préfèrent utiliser deux illuminateurs pour obtenir un effet extrême qui correspond à vos préférences. Vous devez prendre en compte le fait que certains illuminateurs sont plus pigmentés que d’autres. Par conséquent, si vous utilisez un illuminateur pigmenté, il aura évidemment l’air beaucoup plus intense que deux illuminateur subtils. J’ai ajouté certains de mes illuminateurs de pharmacies et de haut de gamme préférées ci-dessous.

Last but not least, apply a powder highlighter on top of everything you’ve added from now on. I know it sounds like there are a lot of products mixed together but that’s the final step to strobing. If you feel like it’s too much, you can opt out this step.

Enfin, appliquez un illuminateur à la poudre en plus de tout ce que vous avez ajouté à partir de maintenant. Je sais qu’il semble y avoir beaucoup de produits mélangés, mais c’est la dernière étape du strobing. Si vous sentez que c’est trop, vous pouvez laisser cette étape.
