How To Get Dewy And Glowing Skin

Immerse your soul in love.

Hey Loves! I hope you’re doing well, today I came back with a beauty post as you can see by the title. It’s always difficult to get glowing skin with a dewy finish, especially around this time of the year when it’s freezing cold outside! Your makeup will either turn out matte and will accentuate your dry patches and pores or it will look cakey which isn’t the look you’re going for. Here are the things I do to achieve a dewy and flawless face, if you’re interested then keep on reading!

Skincare

I can’t stress enough how important is to have a good skincare routine, your makeup will only sit in your face properly if you’ve a good base. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard and read plenty of times the things I’m telling you right now, you don’t have to use 20 products every single day but I’d recommend to at least use a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and serum!

Using these products isn’t the main part but using the right products that work on your skin is the most essential part. Check the ingredients, do your research and trust me – it’ll make such a difference to your skin.

Primer

Using a primer will ensure that your makeup lasts all day on your skin, personally primers don’t really work on my dry skin so I don’t use one and I’ve seen many people who’ve dry skin don’t use a primer either. So do what works for your skin!

In addition, you can use an illuminating primer (which I do), it’ll give a radiant finish to your skin! You can either use it before you apply your foundation or you can mix it with your foundation!

Foundation

There are so many types of foundations out there, for instance cream, liquid and powder but the most essential thing is to use a foundation that works on your skin type. Some products work well for all the skin types and some don’t and only work for a specific skin type.

Do your research and find what types of foundation work for your skin and then check out the products. Don’t buy anything online because you never know if the shade you picked will match you and if the formula will work on your skin.

Here are some of my favourite foundations (note: I’ve extremely dry and sensitive skin)

✘ Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

✘ Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation

✘ Milani Conceal + Perfect 2 In 1 Foundation & Concealer

✘ Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

✘ Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

Oil

This is something I’ve started to do recently (a couple of months now), I mix my Argan oil with one of my favourite foundation and instantly my face looks more nourished and ‘healthy’ looking. My skin feels a lot softer too and this trick does work for oily skin as well. It won’t make your face look oilier and it’ll do wonders to your skin! Obviously, you only need to add one drop of oil to your foundation and it’s more than enough.

I’ve gathered all the oils that work for each skin type as you can see below:

Concoction

I don’t only mix Argan oil with my foundation, I do create my own concoctions using different products. You can mix a liquid highlighter with your foundation to get a glowy base or you can use two foundation with different formulas to create the formula you like.

Here are some of my favourite concoctions:

⋆ Foundation + Oil

⋆ Foundation + Liquid Highlighter

⋆ Foundation (Dewy Formula) + Foundation (Medium to Full Coverage)

⋆ Foundation + Illuminating Primer

Highlighter

When you think of glow, the first thing that comes to your mind is obviously highlighter. You can either apply a powder highlighter alone or you can apply a cream/liquid highlighter first and then apply a powder highlighter on top for a very glowy look. The places where you usually highlight are on the top of your cheekbones, brow bone, tip of your nose and cupid’s bow.

Personally I don’t tend to wear highlighter on an everyday basis because they may look like a bit too much if you understand what I mean and finding highlighters that give a subtle glow is difficult for me.

Here are some of my favourite highlighters:

✘ Sleek Highlighting Palette Cleopatra’s Kiss

✘ Topshop Highlighter in Horizon

✘ Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft And Gentle

✘ Makeup Revolution Pro Amplified Strobe & Highlighting

Skin Mist/Setting Spray

Don’t forget to spray your face with a skin mist so from that way your makeup will last all day and it’ll add a healthy looking glow to your face and then you can use a setting spray with a dewy finish to set your whole face.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

  1. I live in Canada and my skin is generally dry all year round but when winter comes in it’s more pronounced on my face. This post was great help I’ll keep an eye for those products and change my skincare routine. Is there any particularly products that you would recommend for dry skin in terms of moisturizing?

    1. Thank you lovely! I’ve eczema so while I was in France I used specific moisturisers from the chemist but once I moved to the UK it was a bit difficult to find a good moisturiser. I used so many which were good but they didn’t wow me if you know what I mean, I’m still on the hunt for a good moisturiser. At the moment I’m using a moisturiser that has SPF in it because I use serums that contain acids which can be quite harsh for the skin so using SPF is a must! If I find a good moisturiser, I’ll make sure to let you know! x

  2. I live in Canada and my skin is naturally dry but during the winter season it is particularly more pronounced. I keep a look out for those products but I was wondering if you have any suggestions for a moisturizer for dry skin?

    1. Oh I completely understand! My friends who have young kids literally don’t have a skincare routine at all to the point they don’t even use a cleanser to wash their faces! I wasn’t into skincare at all when I was in my teens but now that I’m into my twenties, I pay more attention to the products I use and I’ve seen a huge difference x

  3. There’s so much to know about makeup! It’s almost a different language to me lol. I do need to start my own skin routine though!

    1. Haha it was complicated at first for me as well, I literally watched hundreds of YouTube videos and did my own research. Definitely start your own skincare routine, your skin will thank you so much! x

  4. This is such a good post ! There are lots of good tips! a brilliant post that needs to be bookmarked !

  5. I really wanna try add some hazelnut oil to my foundation haha, that just sounds so delicious id probably try to eat my face & i really wanna try the milani foundation, I’ve heard so many good things about that brand but somehow I’ve never tried it! Great post, xx

    1. Haha I definitely think it’d smell delicious 😂 the milani foundation works so well on my dry skin and it’s medium to full coverage (it’s so pigmented)! Thanks a lot lovely xx

  6. Loved this post! I’ve given up on wearing foundation becuase I’ve tried 3 or 4 already and it never looks right! I might give it a chance in the future with a better foundation but for now I don’t think I even need it. I just wear concealer and it’s been working fine for me so far! xx

  8. This is just so helpful now that I’m getting into beauty products! What is your review on Milani Conceal + Perfect 2 In 1 Foundation & Concealer? I’m looking for a concealer but maybe a lightweight foundation. I also have really dry and sensitive skin but sometimes oily.

    1. So glad you found it helpful! That foundation is amazing 🙌🏼 It’s one of my go-to foundations and I’d highly recommend it! It’s full coverage though so I wouldn’t consider it as lightweight but it’s such a great foundation for dry and sensitive skin x

    2. That’s awesome to hear. The milani is mainly a foundation but can I just use it only as a concealer to cover acne spots? Sometimes I don’t want to use foundation and just wanna go with a no makeup look.
