The Recipe For Happiness.

I wouldn’t say that happiness is a set of complicated calculations that needs a specific formula or rules in order to be attained, I view it more as something that’s unique yet simple which can be obtained based on your own wants & needs. Obviously, this means it’s different for every single person depending on their situation and day-to-day life.

That’s why in today’s post, I wanted to share with you a few things that I consider to be a part of a recipe to happiness and they all can be applied universally as well. Without further ado, let’s jump into the post!

FINDING A SOLUTION AS YOUR FIRST INSTINCT

The obstacle to happiness isn’t necessarily sadness but stress. When an issue arises, our first instinct is not to get sad or angry but get stressed & anxious then sad, angry or frustrated, or a combination of all of the above. I’m not saying that it is bad to feel those specific emotions because at the end, you literally cannot control them because they are instinctual but what you can control is how you let those emotions overwhelm you and have an impact on yourself.

Instead of diving into your emotions, try to find a solution to your issue as your first instinct which isn’t only practical but it is also something that will help you see that there is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. Especially if your problems in question have a solution and an outcome that you do have some control over then over-worrying or overthinking will only do more harm than good.

THE SHORTER THE TIME, THE BETTER

Another thing that will help you reach happiness is the amount of time you take to find a solution to your problems. Life is full of ups & downs and there isn’t a linear path when it comes to happiness nor sadness. As much as I hate to say this, one way or another you might encounter an obstacle in your life which can be insignificant or the complete opposite but the amount of time you take to reflect on it and find a solution (if possible) will help you reach peace & happiness quicker.

Just because you are going through a difficult period in your life doesn’t mean that you will never smile or laugh ever again. Feel and let out all those emotions, try to find the next best thing you could do in that situation to solve or make things easier for you then allow yourself to experience the joy & happiness you deserve.

HIGHLIGHTING THE JOYS IN YOUR LIFE

Last but not least, embrace the things that make you smile, laugh and forget the rest of the world. It could be the most mundane or insignificant thing ever, just do it especially if those things bring you pure joy & happiness and don’t bring anybody else down.

A lot of times, people assume that certain things are a definition of happiness in their lives for instance gossiping about others, laughing at insensitive jokes, etc. but things that judge, comment and put others down in any shape or form will never bring anyone any fulfilment – let alone joy which is the reason why those moments of “happiness” are only short term and they end up constantly chasing after something.

  1. Highlighting the joys is a wonderful thing, which is why keeping a blog (or journal) of your happiness and accomplishments is important; you can look back at it if life throws you a curve ball.

  2. Yes, following your joy and doing the things that make you happy without hurting or taking from others is a great recipe for happiness. It’s something I’m putting to practice myself this year. Thanks for sharing.
