There are so many activities you can do with others in order to spend quality time or to simply socialise with others, but I do think it’s important to find that same level of fulfilment and happiness by yourself as well.
It’s much more than enjoying your own company but more so with the idea of building your own happiness for yourself without depending on others because ultimately, you are your own source of happiness.
In today’s post, I wanted to share with you a couple of fulfilling activities you can do by yourself. I would usually share general ideas but in this post, I wanted to share the activities that I personally find to be fulfilling in order to give you examples and hopefully some ideas that will fit your own idea of fulfilment for yourself.

READING
If you have been reading my blog for a while then this might not be a surprise and I think this isn’t a difficult guess either because many people do enjoy reading. It’s quite a relaxing and peaceful activity, and I would say it’s also very enriching.
There are many reasons as to why it’s fulfilling, it is a source of escapism and you get to immerse yourself into another world, and it is an enjoyable experience where you get to live and see many timelines, circumstances and lives as well. The best part about reading is the different formats and mediums available, you obviously have novels, comics but you also have manga, manhwa, etc. You can definitely find one that works for you.

LISTENING TO MUSIC
The majority of people love listening to music, it has a soothing and comforting quality to it regardless of the genre you listen to. But you can do much more than listen if you would like to go a bit beyond.
For example, you can take notes of the songs you truly enjoy listening (or any songs for that matter) and the reason as to why you like them: is it because of the production, artist’s delivery & voice, lyrics or due to the music video? You could go a bit further and figure out which parts of the song give you goosebumps & chills: is it the pre-chorus, bridge, or the use of a specific instrument during a specific part?
You could very much keep your own music journal and distinctively figure out what types of sounds you like. There is something fascinating about finding out one’s self and I think this would be a great opportunity if you love music in general.

PLAYING A SPORT
Many people enjoy playing a sport as a fulfilling activity and to be fair, there are plenty of options to choose from and you can definitely find one that you like. It’s important to note that there are intellectual sports as well, if you aren’t a fan of physical activity then you can opt for an intellectual one such as chess, go, checkers, poker, etc.

COOKING
Cooking can be quite a fulfilling and helpful activity if you enjoy spending time making your meals. You could try out a new recipe every week or every other evening—whenever you have the time for it—whether it’s a snack, dessert, breakfast or a full-course dinner and see whether you like it or not, or whether you were able to make it properly.
There is a warmth when it comes to home-cooked meals and I think with this activity, you aren’t only making food to eat, but you are following a meticulous process to take care of your mind & body. There are sayings in many countries where it’s mentioned that people live to eat so why are you depriving yourself of such a warm & therapeutic activity? Even if the outcome isn’t the one you expected or anticipated, you still tried to make something for yourself which is what matters at the end.

WORKING ON CRAFTS
I think the term ‘crafts’ can apply to so many different things and niches, and it’s definitely not just for kids. For instance, you have crochet, embroidery, pottery but you also have painting, woodworking, weaving, and so many more. If you find yourself to be confused about which one to pick, YouTube is a good place to start.
You can easily find something that works for you and makes you excited to pursue it. At the end of the day, it’s about learning a set of physical skills and whether it’s digital or traditional doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

PLAYING VIDEO GAMES
Last but not least, we have video games. I think if you’ve been reading my blog for a significant amount of time, this isn’t something new for you. There are a variety of games for everyone and you can definitely find something that will fit your preference and mood.
It’s worth mentioning that you don’t necessarily have to buy a gaming console in order to experience video games, the games apps on your tablet or phone are just as good. There are also many games available for free on desktop so you can always take advantage of them.
