I think it’s important whether you are a blogger or reader to know that sometimes there are bloggers who lie about certain matters. It doesn’t mean all bloggers lie or that you shouldn’t trust bloggers, it’s just that some bloggers don’t necessarily tell the truth and you shouldn’t bluntly trust someone – especially someone on the internet.
Usually people would think that when you associate bloggers and lies, it has to do with a blogger not being honest while reviewing a product or not disclosing a product when it has been gifted. If you want to take a step further, some bloggers lie in order to portray themselves in a good light which unfortunately is something we are all quite aware of.
But nowadays, some bloggers lie about everything and anything which is why sometimes you have to question every blogger’s integrity because you literally cannot trust anyone and you don’t know whether to believe them or not. Some of these things are so insignificant that there is no point of lying.
Note that this post isn’t written to hurt anyone’s feelings nor targeting someone in particular. These are the things I’ve come across randomly when blogging and I do think it’s important that everyone are aware of these things. So if you are interested, keep on reading!

STATS ON TWITTER
If you’ve been reading my blog posts for a while, you would know that I’m not very active on Twitter and I only use it when sharing my blog posts on there so I don’t want you to think that I’ve been investigating this for ages lol! Twitter is literally the best platform to interact with other bloggers.
There are many bloggers who are so motivational and share their success, struggles and goals which is amazing for other bloggers to boost their productivity and plan their strategies. But there are bloggers who take it a bit further and pretty much lie about these things.
I’ve came across bloggers lying about the stats they were getting, which is something you don’t really think about because why would someone lie about those information? But as you know, when you do share these types of information, it does really well on Twitter statistically. A lot of people like, retweet and comment under those tweets because it motivates other bloggers and people are genuinely happy & proud of you.
But the mistake these people make is they don’t stop at one lie and keep on exaggerating which obviously if someone kept track of all the information, they would see the numbers don’t correlate at all. They are simply doing it for attention and for people to notice them.
Moral of the story: Don’t get discouraged by someone’s stats because it might not even be real. Focus on your content and blog! Just because some bloggers are lying about their stats, it doesn’t mean every blogger lies about their analytics and you need ‘proof’ in order to check whether they are telling the truth or not.
As I said at the beginning, this is something I purely came across randomly and I remembered the numbers they mentioned so at first it didn’t make any sense to me. But obviously when they kept on exaggerating with the numbers, trust me it doesn’t take two to see that they are either lying about one thing or everything. There are far worse things going around in the world so I would never get why some people feel the need to lie about irrelevant things – this is just my opinion.
EXPERIENCES
I’m pretty sure you might already know this but there are bloggers who lie about their experiences and ‘life events’. This was previously done on YouTube but now it kind of transferred to Instagram and obviously into the blogging community.
Certain bloggers lie about having mental illnesses because it’s something widely talked about and in order to relate with other people while in fact, they have no idea what it’s like living with any mental illnesses. But it doesn’t stop there, some people lie about their relationships, dating experiences, literally about anything!
One one side, it’s very sad that some people feel the need to create false experiences in order to stand out but on the other hand, as an audience we are most likely to read or check something out when it’s interesting or ‘juicy’.
Moral of the story: Once again, just because some bloggers are lying about their situations/experiences, you cannot question every blogger’s integrity. Unfortunately, some bloggers lie and you can’t do anything about it unless you know them personally.
“RECEIPTS”
This one isn’t a surprise either if you have been in the blogging community for a long time. When there are dramas involved, there are times when one or both parties lie which isn’t surprising because you don’t want to look bad. But in some cases, people create false ‘receipts’ with Photoshop which is definitely extreme.
I’m pretty sure for most people it’s ridiculous and shocking but sadly it happens. There are people who will go to any extent in order to achieve something or to make themselves look like the good guy.
Moral of the story: The only thing I can say is before you support anyone, just make sure to think about it twice. Especially on social media, even if you don’t support anyone – make sure you don’t tear anyone apart.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

I think another issue is if you are relying on your blog for your happiness and sometimes I think people can get so obsessed with stats that they forget why they started blogging in the first place 😀
You’re absolutely right!
I think a key phrase might be that it’s hard to know someone without the face to face connection. I’ve had some difficulty with understanding some people here, not knowing if they are telling the truth. I’ve wanted to believe. But the digital world makes it difficult, if not impossible to get truth. It’s just too easy for people to be who they want to be, good or bad. I try to be myself. Though I’m quieter in person than here. We all have struggles. Sometimes they get in the way of true connections. It’s also difficult when the world is full of scammers.
You’re right! But sometimes even when bloggers put a face to their blogs, it’s hard to know someone because you don’t really know who they are in real life.
Assertive and honest way of saying a truth beautifully 👍🏻. What most bloggers forget is that “The strength is not in numbers. The strength is in Your passion” 🙂.
Thank you! ❤️
You are welcome. Best wishes ⭐️!
Thank you!
I just wanted to say thank you for writing this! As a person who is new to blogging, I never really thought about every way people can or do lie about these topics. Especially mental illness, which I think is honestly sickening to lie about. Anyways, I never thought about others lying about statistics, but I am a person who wants to believe people to a fault. Why do I do that? Haha. So, it really opened up my eyes because I do “look up” to some bloggers that I am now thinking, wow that really doesn’t make sense (about something they wrote or said). I think this is a read that not only general readers need to read but also others who are new to this, like me! Thanks again and love the post!
My pleasure! Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
I have to admit, I’ve seen some bloggers who instantly have over a thousand views. Then after a couple of days they may have 50 or 60.
I’ve heard over and over again how it’s beneficial to sign up to certain apps because it helps you gain more followers. But, sometimes I feel like that’s lying to the people who’re putting their trust in you. I guess that’s why my numbers are so low, because of my honesty.
I’ve never heard of those apps before!
Yeah, they have plenty of apps to make it look as if you have more followers and views. Not for blogging directly, but for other platforms you may share your content on.
I didn’t know about that!
Thanks for the inspiring post,I don’t really know whether anyone else has been inspired or not but I am pleased. Great post.
Thank you so much!
Thank you – great post. As someone who is new to blogging, I feel a little better about my low numbers here 😬

Such a wonderful blog..👍👍👍
This is an excellent post. How unfortunate bloggers feel they have to lie to gain an audience. A literary hoax is as bad as fake news.
Thank you so much, Eugenia! Totally agree with you x
I’ve had a blog for a while but only recently started taking it seriously. Now that I’m making the mental shift into being a blogger, guess I’ll have to lie a whole lot more…….jk
