Your background plays a huge role when it comes to creating beautiful flatlay pictures.

It can literally make the products in your flatlays stand out that’s why you should play around and experiment when taking your pictures. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 10 cheap ways to create a pretty background for your pictures. Not only are they inexpensive but they are also available in your home!

BEDDING

Your bedding is a great background for your pictures whether it’s a plain coloured one or with beautiful designs. Depending on your website’s colour palette or Instagram theme, you can definitely make it work!

PAPER

Most of the times, my flatlay pictures’s background is a paper. Yes, can you believe that!? It’s only an A4 printing paper. You can literally find it any stores for less than a quid. In addition, you can reuse the same paper multiple times!

La plupart du temps, l’arrière-plan de mes images est un papier. Oui, pouvez-vous le croire!? Ce n’est qu’un papier A4. Vous pouvez littéralement le trouver dans tous les magasins pour moins de deux euros. De plus, vous pouvez réutiliser le même papier plusieurs fois!

 

MARBLE COUNTER TOP

A marble background is simply a classic in my opinion. Any flatlay pictures will look gorgeous behind a marble background. Some homes have marble counter tops which you can take advantage of but I know in most homes, that isn’t the case.

You can either buy marble adhesive film or buy a marble coffee table which can be quite pricey. If you have marble floor tiles, you can even use them to your advantage!

Un fond de marbre est tout simplement un classique à mon avis. Toutes les images seront magnifiques derrière un fond de marbre. Certaines maisons ont des comptoirs en marbre dont vous pouvez profiter, mais je sais que dans la plupart des maisons, ce n’est pas le cas.

Vous pouvez soit acheter un film adhésif en marbre ou acheter une table basse en marbre qui peut être assez chère. Si vous avez des carreaux de sol en marbre, vous pouvez même les utiliser à votre avantage!

RUG

Why don’t you take advantage of your rug? This will add a softer touch to your flatlays as well as make your flatlays stand out. You can obviously use a faux white sheepskin rug which is everyone’s favourite but you can also use the rug(s) you already have at home which will be quite unique.

Pourquoi ne profitez-vous pas de votre tapis? Cela ajoutera une touche plus douce à vos flatlays et fera ressortir vos flatlays. This one ties with the paper but you can use A4 glitter papers as well! There is a range of different colours you can choose from. This will definitely make the products in your flatlays pop up!

You can use a magazine as a background as well! Whether it’s the cover or the pages inside, there are so many options to choose from. Depending on the products you want to showcase, you can use the text to accentuate and the editorial pictures for an artistic look.

Vous pouvez également utiliser un magazine comme arrière-plan! Que ce soit la couverture ou les pages à l’intérieur, il y a tellement d’options à choisir. Selon les produits que vous souhaitez mettre en valeur, vous pouvez utiliser le texte pour accentuer et les photos éditoriales pour un look artistique.

FURNITURE

Don’t forget to take advantage of your (white) furniture whether it’s your chest of drawers or coffee table. Obviously the counter top is much larger than an A4 paper so you have a much bigger space to create pretty flatlays or pictures.

N’oubliez pas de profiter de vos meubles (blancs) que ce soit votre commode ou votre table basse. De toute évidence, le comptoir est beaucoup plus grand qu’un papier A4, vous avez donc un espace beaucoup plus grand pour créer de jolies flatlays ou des images.

 

WINDOWS

For a cosy shot, you can use your windows! If you have the space to put products and other props, it’s definitely not a chance worth missing. Don’t worry about the type of windows you have or the fact they are clean or not, as long as they are presentable and in good condition – that’s what matters!

Pour une photo confortable, vous pouvez utiliser vos fenêtres! Si vous avez l’espace pour mettre des produits et autres accessoires, ce n’est certainement pas une chance à manquer. Ne vous inquiétez pas du type de fenêtres que vous avez ou du fait qu’elles soient propres ou non, tant qu’elles sont présentables et en bon état – c’est ce qui compte!

 

FLOOR

Last but not least, you always have your floor! Whether it’s wooden floor, stone or marble – you can make it work! You can obviously use photo editing apps to tweak the colour of the floor but you can add props/objects with the main colours of your colour palette to hide the floor as well.

Enfin, vous avez toujours votre étage! Qu’il s’agisse de parquet, de pierre ou de marbre – vous pouvez le faire fonctionner! Vous pouvez évidemment utiliser des applications de retouche photo pour modifier la couleur du sol, mais vous pouvez ajouter des accessoires/objets avec les couleurs principales de votre palette de couleurs pour masquer le sol aussi.
