ENGLISH
Whether you have English as a foreign language or as a literary subject, this subject will definitely come in handy when you are writing blog posts especially when it comes to informative articles or guides. You don’t have to write your blog posts like an essay and you can definitely use an informal tone. Note that you don’t have to write your blog in English either, it’s just a personal preference. But if having a bilingual or English blog is important to you then take advantage of your lessons!

IT (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
There are so many categories in terms of IT but the ones I’m going to focus about are graphic and web design. Not only will you be able to learn how to build a website from scratch but you will also be able to learn how to create a professional looking website in terms of colour palette, branding, etc. Ask your lecturer or professor if you have any doubts or questions when it comes to technical things, you will never get an opportunity like this!

BUSINESS
Even if you don’t plan on monetising your blog, you can take advantage of your business classes because at the end of the day, they will teach you strategies and plans in order to achieve an end goal. Those goals can be followers, traffic or even certain opportunities! Those classes will teach you on how to plan effective steps in order to accomplish that goal in question.
Même si vous ne prévoyez pas de monétiser votre blog, vous pouvez profiter de vos cours de commerce car en fin de compte, ils vous apprendront des stratégies et des plans pour atteindre un objectif final. Ces objectifs peuvent être des abonnés, du trafic ou même certaines opportunités ! Ces cours vous apprendront comment planifier des étapes efficaces pour atteindre l’objectif en question.

IMHO it also helps to think *laterally* across individual disciplines — so for example the series of articles I have just begun writing @ http://socio.biz (mainly focused on the very *interdisciplinary* idea of “social business”) are about how social order (vs. disorder) can happen (or not) … and most of all: how to best *manage* it. The answer to this last issue is not really covered by any university course at all .. mainly because universities (and also, more generally, publishing / information industries) have not really begun to grapple with the issues (and this is the main reason stuff like the fiasco w/ the JRE are still quite commonplace).
I usually refer to the main issue as having to do with literacy — and by that I mean a very broad notion of literacy — such as the idea of how a site like hotels.com is probably one of the best search engines for finding the best hotels.

Granted dear Norbert, but I think what New Lune might be referring to could be said to knowledge being relative,thus your discipline may not have a university course,but the possibility of marrying ideas / knowledge from other disciplines may be very necessary for an effective crystalization of your career.
For example,you may not be a journalist,but in the social media engagements / spaces like myself,and I can now realize that I may be in need of some mass media communication skills.
The other day I was working on some project involving shooting a documentary when I realized that tasks like video editing, may need editing machine and editing know how,either graphic design and others which I may not currently have.
This enables me to plan a head some classes of the sort to be compatible with my work without relying so much on journalist professionals who charged us good sum of money for video editing alone.
Organization of knowledge is all about sharing or borrowing skills from other disciples’ and I think this what New Lune may mean.

I totally agree that taking courses- or using what you are already studying- is a great way to grow your blog. I learned the hard way. I avoided brushing up my tech skills, for example, because I just wanted to focus on writing and being creative. But blogging is about evolving and learning. Great post!
