How To Be Grateful In Life.

Everyone always says to be grateful in life, it’s something I’ve mentioned a couple of times on my blog as well. I truly think you cannot grasp the essence of life if you don’t feel a certain amount of gratitude towards it. However, it’s not a step that is easily achievable or comes organically depending on your situation. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some ways that will allow you to be grateful in life. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

STOP LOOKING FOR MEANINGS & REASONS

We all look for reasons when certain things happen to us. Why did this happen to me? Why did I make that choice? Why didn’t I do this? By trying to find answers to those questions, it only clouds our minds from seeing the main truth which is to live in the moment.

I do believe that certain things happen for a reason which I know I’m contradicting to what I said previously but there is no point in trying to find a bigger meaning to something that is meaningless. Not everything has to have a reason or meaning behind it, some things are just there to show you to enjoy each moment you were given to.

PRIORITISING YOUR GOOD INSTEAD OF YOUR BAD

By focusing on our bad things which are our bad moments, painful memories, flaws and weaknesses, we are only allowing those things to take control over us. Gratitude doesn’t come by turning a blind eye on them, it comes when you start to accept them and shift your focus on your good things instead which are your strengths, qualities, happy memories, loved ones, etc.

NOT COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

It’s in our human nature to compare ourselves with others but that doesn’t mean it’s something unstoppable. By comparing ourselves with others, it only makes us resent our own lives and create unnecessary bad emotions about our own circumstance. You will never feel grateful for the precious things you have in your life if your eyes are constantly drawn into another person’s things which might not even be precious to them.

  1. I struggle with gratitude very often – failing to see the little wins or beautiful moments along the way to something “grand and beyond the boring everyday life”. And to everyone who’s like me, I’d say – these 3 tips are great – just develop the patience to implement them in your life and it’ll come. It’s a very challenging task especially if you’re a nervous and ambitious person. Once you start noticing the good all the time – it’ll be there for you more often than you expect it. I’d add to this – start a gratitude journal/ list and add to it often – you’ll be amazed at the results! 🙂 x

  2. Gratitude is hard for me. I am trapped in the past which held very crappy moments. I am sometimes reliving the pain I felt. It seems the bad memories are strangling the good ones, the last ones become harder to recollect.

  3. I actually took a long break from blogging (still deciding if I’m going to return) studying astrology and the philosophy behind it. Much of it is covered. I may do a series on how to actually interpret it.
It’s all in timing techniques, your life is written out into chapters with sub chapters where some is in your control while others are not. It’s tied to hermeticism and some stoicism also referenced in Ancient Greek philosophy. Life isn’t senseless, there’s a purpose, and there’s very little control over it. You can control how you deal with it.
Cancer new moon, new lune. Fitting post for it.
