How To Distract Your Mind From Thinking Negatively.

There is never a point in your life where you will be completely able to stop thinking negatively, both our positive and negative emotions are a part of ourselves and they will always be constant.

However, just because they are constant doesn’t mean that you can allow them to overwhelm you and control your life. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some ways on how to distract yourself from thinking negatively. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

KEEPING YOURSELF BUSY

One of the best ways to distract your mind from your negative thoughts is by keeping yourself busy. You don’t have to work the entire day nor do you have to work productively or efficiently but by doing your tasks for the day, you will not have the time to think about anything else other than those tasks in question which will you help you tremendously.

UNLEARNING CERTAIN THOUGHTS

At the end of the day, our negative thoughts reside in our minds from certain thoughts that have been ingrained in ourselves from a very young age. The only way to get rid of them is by finding the root of those thoughts in question and by unlearning them. It’s not about erasing them and acting like they never existed in the first place but by acknowledging them and finding a way to move forward from there on.

LIVING IN THE MOMENT

Last but not least, enjoy the present if you want to distract your mind from thinking negatively. It’s probably something that I will never get tired of saying and will probably repeat it over and over again but you have to live in the moment in order to completely forget about everything else around yourself and that doesn’t only include your stress & worries but also your mind. The more you try to immerse yourself into the present, the easier it will be to distract your mind.

  1. Always look on the bright side of death! 😛 The Monty Python crew was really very insightful, I guess … insofar as one way to avoid thinking negatively is to avoid thinking at all.

    Thanks for your excellent tips — they are very useful reminders … and I also agree that we seem to be “wired” for repetition on a very fundamental level … and so what we repeatedly think about really seems to impact our well-being a LOT.
