Couldn’t Live Without In 2016

Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have

Hey Loves! I have gathered the things that I couldn’t live without in 2016 which includes makeup, books and apps. These are all the things that amazed me and have been used throughout the year of 2016. In addition, when it comes to books, these are more the books that left an impact on me even after I had finished reading. Anyways, if you’re interested then just keep on reading!

MAKEUP

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

This is definitely one of the best foundations from the drugstore, I even recommended to my family and friends, you will not be disappointed at all. I have extremely dry and sensitive skin so when it comes to foundations, I’m very picky and I only choose foundations based on reviews for my skin type. This foundation has been remarkable for my skin, the finish and texture is so good.

L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer

If you haven’t tried this out then you definitely should, it always gives such a glow to my face and I always get so many compliments. I always mix it with my foundation for a more radiant and natural glow. You can put on the high points of your face before applying foundation as well.

MAC Lip Pencil – Brick

This is such a gorgeous burgundy red with brown undertones, this colour as itself is so beautiful but the way I use it, is I mix this colour with any cool undertone lipsticks or lip pencils and the finish is always perfect. This has been my go-to lip pencil when it comes to mixing colours!

Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner – 045 Epic

I can’t express how much I love this colour, this is definitely a great colour for school and work. I would say it’s a muted brown with grey undertones.

NYX Matte Lip Cream – Cannes

This has been my go-to lip cream, I always mix it with lipsticks and lip pencils, the shade is a rose pink with a hint of brownish coral undertones. I love this colour, the formula is great, it’s very creamy and stays on my lips for a very long time.

APPS

Instagram

This is definitely my favourite social media platform of 2016, I’m always on it and the last couple months I’ve been posting more regularly and paying more attention to my content and it definitely shows a huge difference when it comes to the growth of my followers. If you want to check my instagram it’s @new_lune (shameless self promo)

VSCO Cam

VSCO Cam is my go-to app when it comes to editing my pictures for instagram, there are are so many cool filters and settings.

Pokémon Go

I’m a huge fan of Pokémon so it’s no surprise that Pokémon Go was one of my favourite apps of 2016. I had been playing for a couple months but I deleted the app last month. Unlike any youtubers, I couldn’t travel to so many different countries and places to capture all the rare Pokémon and complete my Pokedox so I had to give up. Also, the app was taking so much memory space on my iPhone.

Piano Tiles 2

I always play this game whenever I want to relax, I always feel like I’m playing the piano virtually. You have so many song selections and albums.

BOOKS

The forgetting time – Sharon Guskin

I loved reading this book, the main topic of this book is reincarnation and past life, but more than that what I found in this book more special is the love and bond between a mother and child. There is a murder mystery as well (with a twist within a twist).

Synopsis:

Noah is four and wants to go home. The only trouble is he’s already there.

Janie’s son is her world, and it breaks her heart that he has nightmares.
That he’s terrified of water.
That he sometimes pushes her away and screams that he wants his real mother.
That it’s getting worse and worse and no one seems to be able to help.

In desperation, she turns to someone who might have an answer – but it may not be one she’s ready to hear.
It may also mean losing the one thing she loves more than anything.
Noah.

Behind closed doors – B. A. Paris

This was the first book I read last year, this book emits many emotions and feelings. If you’re a fan of psychological thriller and loved The Girl On the Train then you will love this book.

Synopsis:

Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do.

You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart.

Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.

Find her – Lisa Gardner

This books has given me an insight of the world of FBI and abduction. When reading it, it’s so hard not to be able to be emotionally connected to the protagonist. You can visualise from both the predator and prey’s point of view which makes it even more a darker psychological thriller.

Synopsis:

Flora Dane is a victim.
Seven years ago, carefree college student Flora was kidnapped while on spring break. For 472 days, Flora learned just how much one person can endure.

Flora Dane is a survivor.
Miraculously alive after her ordeal, Flora has spent the past five years reacquainting herself with the rhythms of normal life, working with her FBI victim advocate, Samuel Keynes. She has a mother who’s never stopped loving her, a brother who is scared of the person she’s become, and a bedroom wall, covered with photos of other girls who’ve never made it home.

Flora Dane is reckless.
…Or is she? When Boston Detective D.D. Warren is called to the scene of a crime– a dead man and the bound, naked woman who killed him– she learns that Flora has taken on three other suspects since her return to society. Is Flora a victim, or a vigilante? And with her firsthand knowledge of criminal behavior, could she hold the key to rescuing a missing college student whose abduction has rocked Boston? When Flora herself disappears, D.D. realizes a far more sinister predator is out there. One who’s determined that this time, Flora Dane will never escape. And now it is all up to D.D. Warren to Find Her.

Frozen Charlotte – Alex Bell

This is the first horror book I have read, if you know me personally you would know that I’m a huge fan of horror and thriller movies. You can definitely see that I love thrillers (if you haven’t realised by now) from the books I read but I enjoy horror even more. So I was a bit sceptical when I bought it at first but it didn’t disappoint me at all! It gave me chills when reading it, there were so many twists and it was so creepy.

Synopsis:

We’re waiting for you to come and play.

Dunvegan School for Girls has been closed for many years. Converted into a family home, the teachers and students are long gone. But they left something behind…Sophie arrives at the old schoolhouse to spend the summer with her cousins. Brooding Cameron with his scarred hand, strange Lilias with a fear of bones and Piper, who seems just a bit too good to be true. And then there’s her other cousin. The girl with a room full of antique dolls. The girl that shouldn’t be there. The girl that died.

Only daughter – Anna Snoekstra

This is another psychological thriller that you will love, it’s so thrilling and chilling. There are so many twists and you can read from the perspective of both protagonists which makes it even more suspenseful.

Synopsis:

In 2003, sixteen-year-old Rebecca Winter disappeared.

She’d been enjoying her teenage summer break: working at a fast-food restaurant, crushing on an older boy and shoplifting with her best friend. Mysteriously ominous things began to happen—blood in the bed, periods of blackouts, a feeling of being watched—though Bec remained oblivious of what was to come.

Eleven years later she is replaced.

A young woman, desperate after being arrested, claims to be the decade-missing Bec.

Soon the imposter is living Bec’s life. Sleeping in her bed. Hugging her mother and father. Learning her best friends’ names. Playing with her twin brothers.

But Bec’s welcoming family and enthusiastic friends are not quite as they seem. As the imposter dodges the detective investigating her case, she begins to delve into the life of the real Bec Winter—and soon realizes that whoever took Bec is still at large, and that she is in imminent danger.

Iris Grace – Arabella Carter-Johnson

This is such a beautiful book, after I had finished reading this book, I felt so happy and motivated. I would recommend anyone to read this book, it’s so inspirational.

Synopsis:

Iris Grace is six years old and severely autistic.

For the first few years of her life she barely communicated at all – she hardly ever looked up when her parents walked into a room, she rarely smiled or spoke. Her mother Arabella despaired – Iris seemed to be trapped in her own world, unreachable.

Then one day the family decided to get a cat, Thula, with whom Iris had an immediate affinity. She appeared to open up and communicate with Thula in a way that she hadn’t done before. The little girl who seemed to be lost in her own world slowly blossomed.

Flawed – Cecelia Ahern

I was so captivated by the story, this book shows the word perfectionism into a whole new aspect and the consequences in a fictional world. I can’t wait to read the second part!

Synopsis:

You will be punished…

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.

But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.

The darkest secret – Alex Marwood

This is one of the books that leaves an impact for days even after you have finished reading, it’s so thrilling and twisty until the last page. If you liked Gone Girl, you will surely like this one as well.

Synopsis:

Apologies for the general email, but I desperately need your help.

My goddaughter, Coco Jackson, disappeared from her family’s holiday home in Bournemouth on the night of Sunday/Monday August 29/30th, the bank holiday weekend just gone. Coco is three years old.

When identical twin Coco goes missing during a family celebration, there is a media frenzy. Her parents are rich and influential, as are the friends they were with at their holiday home by the sea.

But what really happened to Coco?

Over two intense weekends – the first when Coco goes missing and the second twelve years later at the funeral of her father – the darkest of secrets will gradually be revealed…
