I’ve been blogging for quite a long time and if there is something I’ve realised is the fact that I’m not into social media. I love my blog and everything that revolves around it which obviously includes social media platforms. However I’m not one of those people who is quite vocal & outspoken, always has interesting anecdotes to share and very motivational.
The weird thing is I’m comfortable doing all of these things on my blog rather than my social media. When it comes to Twitter or Instagram, I just take a step back. In today’s post, I want to share where I would like to take my social media in terms of content and experimenting with new things.

DRAWING THE LINE
As silly as it sounds, I have so many things to share but I don’t know if I want to share them. I don’t want to share something that I might regret later on in the future. I consider myself to be a private person and there are things I definitely won’t share which is where I draw the line. On the other hand, there are some things I’m still on the fence about. I know it’ll be helpful to at least one person but I feel anxious how others will perceive it. This is something I want to do step-by-step and I’m taking my time on it.

MORE AS A DIARY
I see social media platforms more as a diary and a way to inspire people than influencing & sharing what I’ve been up to, at least for me! Don’t get me wrong, I love posting flatlays and experimenting with my photography but I don’t want to put the same content on my blog and social media. This is something I want to try out this year, I want to post content that are a bit out of my comfort zone. I still want to do the same things but in my way if that makes any sense lol!

NOT CHANGING WHO I AM
If there is something I’ve realised with social media is the way some people change and how numbers and likes affect their daily life. At the end of the day, social media is just social media and I don’t want to change who I am as a person nor the way I use it.
I don’t want it to take over my life and have to worry about what to post on a daily basis, that’s why I spend more time interacting with others than posting. I think I’ve found a good balance, I don’t worry about numbers and I just post what I like but I’d love to be a little bit more consistent with my schedule.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

I don’t have time to deal with my social media because of my business schoolwork.
I usually post my blog articles into my website via WordPress.com and vlog into my YouTube channel, and then share it to Twitter and other social media to promote it. I also put my photos into Instagram and WordPress.com has a widget that can show the Instagram pictures.
I know! It’s so time consuming! x
Anybody else has that eerie feeling of being into social media so much? It has become a lifestyle, a life choice. It’s like you don’t realize it is shaping your life already, keeping you from seeing what truly matters in your life. I don’t like that feeling that I am being a slave to these things. I better exercise caution and self-control.
Yess! That’s why I only use social media for my blog and I only use it once every day to interact with other bloggers & catch up with my feed.

Praying for the people of France. So sorry to see Notre Dame damaged.
Thank you ❤️ I’m literally in tears. It’s so upsetting x
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! x
I really enjoyed reading this post.
Thank youu! 💗
I am trying to get into social media, found that Facebook ads only take a little bit of money to start and can go a long way with promotion. It can be hard to really try to spread your wings on social media nowadays, it was easier a few years ago when there were less influencers. Now there are so many that you can get lost in the sea! Good luck though!
So true! I wish I had been more consistent back in the day when I first started my blog. Thank you lovely 💗
Great post, I need to be more consistent with my Instagram and twitter as well. I should socialize more too, I don’t engage with other bloggers enough even though I want to! And i agree with you that Social media is like a diary, it’s a very nice way to put it!
Thank you sweet! 💗
Soci media is really what you make of it. It can be professional or personal. It depends on you. If you want it to be professional, dig into the industry you fall under. Sharing news and brief thoughts on things related to your interests will help get some attention pointed your way.
Social media is really what you make of it.
Totally agree with you! x
Thank you, and sorry about somehow deleting the end part of the word social in my comment. Proofreading is important, and I sometimes forget I cannot edit after pushing send. 😂
Haha no worries! That happens to me all the time x
Always be who are either social media or in real world 😘🤗🤗
Sorry it’s always be who you are, either social media or in real world 😊🤗
No worries 😘❤️
Yess 🙌🏼❤️
I loved your article! Also, and I wanted to say this for a long time, your blog is so dear to my heart because you are the only person I follow with a bilingual post. I use you as motivation whenever I feel like typing everything twice is too much ❤ I like my blog too. I like it because although I've been doing it for only 3 months, I have a steady community, my blog grows as I keep investing in it and I feel like the follows are honest and the comments are true. The sickening follow to unfollow trend, the unrelated comments, the likes without even reading the description, common on social media, are just sad. It wastes my time, my nerves, and it hurts that I am trying to be honest there and all that is stripped off by an algorithm and follow applications. I like a lot better the blogging community.
Aww thank you so much babe! Your comment literally made my day 😭 You have no idea how much it means to me! I completely agree with you, I much prefer the blogging community compared to social media. Thanks for reading ❤️
Ooooo 🤗🤗🤗 you are more than welcome! It is my pleasure!
❤️❤️
Everyone has a different approach to social media, especially when it comes to sharing more about their life outside of it! I’m like you, I stay private – I do prefer it that one, but at other times I’ve found it constricting.
In regards to your third point, because my husband was just talking to me about how we always have this concept of how we’ll fit technology or social media into our lives, but really it’s ended up being the other way around – how are we changing our lives to fit social media? For example, when someone does something “for the ‘gram” so they can take a picture to show on Instagram, or how social media has changed our buying habits.
Soo true! I don’t use Instagram on a daily basis other than to interact with other people’s pictures but I can definitely see how it can run our life if we are dependent on it. Thanks for reading babe 💗
Would you consider YouTube?
Nope I wouldn’t haha! Never say never but it’s not something I’ve thought about it!
I understand you completely on the part of holding back a bit in social media. I, too, was in the exact situation years before. In the Philippines, when everything can become viral in under five minutes and where most “netizens” (as we call internet users) are judgmental rather than broad-minded, it was hard for me to bloom. But I figured out that if I want my social media to be known like how real life people know me, it has to have my exact same voice. So what I did was I kept it real and spoke my mind. Of course, without disrespecting and trampling upon the rights and privacy of others. Eventually, some people disliked my straightforwardness. But I gained more friends and followers who think alike and have the same principles as I have.
Another tip would be to share only those things you’d be comfortable sharing in a typical or traditional social set up. Imagine social media like a big prom or cocktail party where anyone can just jump right at you and try to know you. If a topic is something you won’t share in such type of gathering, then most probably, you should not be sharing the same on social media. 😉
That’s such a great tip! I haven’t really thought about it from that way, that’s very true. I always wanted to use social media as an online diary so that I could look back at all the memories I’ve made, my thoughts but most importantly my journey. But I’ve restricted myself from doing so, out of fear that other people might judge me. Your comment definitely gave me a boost of energy to use my voice on social media, thank youu! ❤️
I think the key with blogging and social media is to just be social! I don’t post too much about my daily life, but my social media (instagram) allows me balance by giving me consistency in a platform that takes up less time than writing – I also find it fun but that’s just me 🙊
You are absolutely right! As long as you are kind and respectful, you’ll be completely fine 💗 I’m definitely going to up my Instagram game 🙌🏼
100% 🙌🏽 and while you build that insta profile, give me a follow @anamikatalwaria 😊💖
It’s a balance isn’t it? I use social media as myself to interact with real life family and friends but the blog and the related social media are separate. For me, that’s a lot to do with my children’s privacy and digital footprint. I know difference social media platforms have different vibes so some content just doesn’t work so well. Facebook for my blog stuff is more local people so I use it mainly for “what’s on” info rather than rants and musings, instagram’s for visuals and observations and it’s where I’m most connected with other mum bloggers. Twitter I’m still trying to work out – where’s the line between my personal twitter, my blog twitter and my works twitter accounts – they all have a different voice, different followers. It’s all the keeping on brand, on message and still trying to stay true to me. I instagram more than I blog because it’s quicker and easier to do on my phone. Good post, lots to think about.
Oh I absolutely agree with you! You have to be so careful on the internet nowadays, I like the idea of having your personal and “blog” social media separate (personally for me). I’m trying to work out with Twitter as well, I just have a love-hate relationship with it 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you lovely 💗
Reblogged this
Thank you ❤️
I hope you can find a new balance of producing content you want but not letting it change your life, or the way you live it.
Instagram is honestly so exhausting, it’s like there are all these unspoken rules about how your grid has to look, how you engage with other accounts, etc and it’s just tiring. I’m happy with my grid but at the same time It’s really restricting to I’d love to just take a break from the way my feed looks and just post what I want sometimes.
Thank you sweet! I feel the same way as well! I’d love to post so many different things but it would make my feed look incoherent 😞
I miss the good old days where having a curated feed didn’t matter 😄
I was into facebook before but now not any more. I am obsessed with pinterest and my blog
I hate Facebook hahah! I love Pinterest though 💗
some people have this feeling towards social media and that’s fine.
I just think that social media helps you reach more people for example if you have a business that you want to be found.
you can still limit the posts you share based on how you are comfortable with but social media can really help in making your brand discoverable by everyone who could be your potential customer.
to be honest, i have not read your previous blogs so I don’t know much about you.
Just giving my two cents about this post.
I completely agree with you. If you have a business, it’s a great way to gain exposure and promote your products.
I never share any of my personal life on my blog or social media. I just prefer it like that, and I would never be recognised out and about which to me is amazing haha! xx
GemmaEtc.com
Haha so true! xx
I created a seperate account for sharing things to do with my blog, just because the audience for my personal account is very different and i didn’t feel comfortable to share the stuff i post on my blog with them yet! xx
I completely get it! It’s the same way with me as well. I will never mix my personal and blog accounts xx
Very interesting post! I feel the same way about social media, I struggle to post things on Instagram for example because I feel it’s not truly who I am, to share every bit of my life with everyone. Though, I’d like to experience a bit more with these platforms 😊 Thank you for sharing!
Thank you babe! Same! I’d love to be a bit more open but I don’t really want to overshare everything 💕
Thanks For Sharing This Nice Blog.
I am very happy to read this blog. This is very interesting and great post. This gives us the knowledge about how to link our business in social media environment.
#social media
My pleasure! Thank you!
Thank you so much for being honest about your thoughts on social media! I think a lot of the time it can be hard to be honest with how social media makes us feel and I completely agree with you about how people can get too focused on image and likes. But I also think social media can be incredibly powerful if used the right way. I hope you’re able to find a balance that works for you, but that is also fun and enjoyable. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you lovely! And I completely agree with you, it’s such a powerful platform if you use it the right way 💗
Thank you very much for this post, I really enjoyed reading it and found it highly valuable. I just posted on my blog about ‘why I love social media’, it would be great if you could check it out and let me know your thoughts 🙂
My pleasure!
