5 Ways To Stay Motivated As A Blogger

One question I always get asked by other bloggers is how to stay motivated to write blog posts and to work on their blog. This is something I also struggle with, there are days when I can write 2 to 3 blog posts within a couple of hours whilst other days I can’t even finish writing a post. I would be lying if I said that I work productively on my blog every single day.

I do work on my blog everyday but I’m not productive nor motivated to work on my blog every single day. It’s completely normal to feel unmotivated but you shouldn’t let that get into you and start to procrastinate. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 5 ways to stay motivated to blog productively. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

TAKE A BREAK

In order to work productively, you need to take a break whether it’s for a couple of hours, days or weeks. Think about it when you are working full-time or are in full-time education, you get half term breaks, annual leave or weekends off. You obviously get those breaks to relax but most importantly to recharge yourself.

You can’t be working on your blog efficiently without taking a break once in a while. If you are like me, you might think you are wasting time when you could do so many things but trust me – you need that break.

But the most important part is not taking your break but when you actually relax. There is nothing like taking a break and not doing anything that you enjoy. It will literally be a waste of time and you won’t feel motivated to do anything either afterwards.

Do things that you enjoy and feel like doing for example if you feel lonely, spend time with your loved ones. If you feel like you haven’t watched anything interesting, watch any TV shows or films. Don’t waste a minute of your break, that way you will feel like you took advantage of your break and you will feel more motivated and inspired to work on your blog.

READ YOUR FAVOURITE BLOGS

As a blogger, it’s very important that you remind yourself why you started blogging in the first place in order to fall back in love with your blog. Sometimes you might not be motivated to write anything because you’ve fallen out of love with your blog which is completely normal.

Sometimes our real life can get in the way and our blogs might have to take a step back but it could also lead to lose our motivation to blog and any goals or dreams we had related to our blogs. Personally, the reason why I started blogging in the first place is from reading other blogs.

If you ever feel like you’ve lost motivation, read your favourite blogs and remind yourself why you fell in love with blogging in the first place. For some, it might be about reading successful blogs because it encourages them to continue blogging and take it to the next level. In addition, reading your favourite blogs will inspire you to write.

DO THINGS THAT INSPIRE YOU

Another thing that you could do is to do things that genuinely inspire you. What works for me might not work for you that’s why it’s important you do things that you genuinely enjoy and make you feel happy.

For some people, it might be about watching their favourite Youtubers whilst for others it might be cooking. One isn’t better than another, it’s all about doing things that work for you.

What makes you enthusiastic? What makes you want to achieve your dreams? What are the things that inspire you? By answering these questions, you’ll be able to find things that will help you spark your creativity and inspiration.

FOLLOW ACCOUNTS THAT SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY

Following people, accounts, feeds or blogs that spark your creativity is very important as well. When you follow the right people on social media, it will help you motivate and inspire you to follow your dream path or goal. Obviously motivating you to blog is an additional bonus.

When you follow accounts that are not inspiring you, motivating you, helping you in any way or even not making you happy, unconsciously your mind will start to create unnecessary negative thoughts. Social media gives a lot of opportunities but if you are not careful about the way you use it, it can also lead to unnecessary turmoil.

In my opinion, social media is just a platform but make sure to follow people that you really like including their content. There is no need to follow someone if you don’t like their content and if you start to notice that an account is creating negative thoughts or insecurities about yourself that you didn’t even have in the first place – just unfollow them.

CLEAR YOUR MIND

One of the most important things, if not the most is to clear your mind. Think of it that way, you clear your cache or cookies once in a while in order for your laptop/desktop computer to work much quicker. Your mind is exactly like that as well. Sometimes you need to dump those thoughts out and de-clutter all your thoughts.

When there is a lot of things that is going on in your life, the last thing you may want to do is work on your blog. If you can resolve those issues, try to do so. If you can’t, there is no point in worrying about them. I know it’s easier said than done but trust me, I do go through this every single day especially with anxiety, it makes things much harder.

But I always try to clear my mind one way or another. You can talk to your loved ones, listen to music or do the things that I’ve mentioned above. This will help you get the clarity you need as well as motivate you to work on your blog. If your mind is focused, it will help you work on your blog more effectively.
