I don’t even know how to start this post. I’ve been feeling a wave of emotions during the last couple of months but the past few days have just been a roller coaster of emotions. If you have been reading my blog for a very long time, you would know that my blog is not only my creative outlet but my personal diary as well. One of the greatest things this platform allows me to do is share and express my thoughts, feelings and opinions. And that is what I want to do today.
I’m utterly saddened by the world we live in right now. 2020 has been a very difficult year for so many of us whether it be emotionally, physically and/or financially. Firstly, it was COVID-19 which is something that hasn’t ended yet. It was like Mother Nature reminded us that it wasn’t us who were in control of our lives. We had to be confined in our own homes (and still are) and it brought us uncertainty & anxiety over everything. Now, it’s oppression.
The unnecessary hatred & violence that POC face on a daily basis are unjustifiable. It’s definitely not something new. Racism & discrimination have been deeply rooted from the very beginning in our society. For some of us, it’s only a hashtag or a movement to speak for a couple of days but for many, it’s their everyday lives. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you my thoughts and what I’ve been feeling with everything that’s happening in the world right now.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t see what’s happening right now before. It has been happening for years and people talk about it on social media for a couple of days and then continue their everyday life. I’m not saying it’s wrong but sharing a few words on social media won’t help to make a difference in the world. You are contributing something which is amazing but you have to do more than that in order to change the world we live in.
Something new that I’ve been seeing the last couple of days which I hadn’t seen before is the fact that more people are educating themselves on the matter. They are not only acknowledging the privileges they have but they are also realising how different the world they live in is compared to another person who doesn’t have the same skin colour as them. Educating themselves on a matter or issue they have no idea about is a great start and it’s not something to be ashamed about either.

One of the most beautiful things I’ve been seeing right now is how united people are. Every form of oppression is woven together and interconnected, people understand that you can’t fight one without fighting the other. Although there are some evil people in this world, my faith in humanity restores every single time I check social media.

WAITING FOR A CHANGE
I think the hardest part is waiting for a change to happen. People have been waiting for years and sadly it didn’t happen so is there any chance that it will happen now? Hopefully, yes. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. I do have the fear that in a couple of days, everything will go back to normal for some people whereas for others, it’s a daily issue they have to face for the rest of their life. But I have faith and I’m going to stick with that.

I wish I had articulated my thoughts in a better way but this is the best I could do. Donate, share awareness and do whatever you can. I feel very ashamed of the ignorance going on in this world and that’s the reason why I want to take advantage of the platform I have, to show support for those who need it. I sincerely hope we can end this injustice together in our generation.

It's been a difficult week for me mentally, physically and emotionally. I've limited my usage of social media this week and have stopped watching the news (at least for now) because it's all a lot to handle right now.
I hope the world will change though and that this is a true calling to a lot of people and organisations.
It’s been a difficult week for everyone. I want to watch the news in order to stay informed but at the same time, as you said it’s a lot to handle. But I remind myself that there are people who have to go through this every single day so how frustrating and tiring can it be on them. I really hope the world will change for the better ❤️
Thank you for this post. Yes, we are in a global phase transition right now – a deep reflection of the foundation of higher consciousness being built systematically on this planet for the last half-century, nearly invisible until now. Speedier karmic returns for all, whatever is due. This is the real deal this time around – the pleas of the righteous have reached the ears of God. Everyone please be good, be well, and enjoy this awakening. All the Best
This article is useful for keeping calm and staying optimistic during this tough time. Thanks for sharing so much and stay safe!
Thank you so much! My pleasure ☺️
Beautiful post here friend. We need to work on certain things (1) buying black (2) supporting black people, especially women – i.e. tell them positive comments whenever we can. (3) Donate to charities that help black people, organizations that help black students etc. There is so much that we can do beyond hashtag activism. We have to put the work in, and we will. There is smoke, and I hope that it breeds enough heat for the fire of change to erupt. Meanwhile, regarding staying optimistic, I would advise that one great way to stay optimistic is by playing our part in the change process. Also, we need to believe in God. There is nothing impossible for the Lord.
The Bible says in Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”.
The Bible says in Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me”.
Remember that Martin Luther King wasn’t just an activist, but also a Christian. It is a combination of will power + action + God’s grace that equals result. God is always with us.
