How To Increase Your Blog Traffic Without Using Social Media

One of the ways to gain traffic on your website is through social media. It’s pretty much one of the great sources of traffic, that’s the reason why I would highly recommend to use those platforms to drive traffic towards your website. However, social medias are not a must in order to have a successful blog or to generate traffic on your website. If I’m being completely honest, I’ve only started using social media “regularly” now and my blog’s main source of traffic is definitely not social media.

Whether you are a private person or simply don’t want to join on any social media platforms, I’m here to tell you that you can still gain & increase your blog traffic without the help of social media. You can have a successful blog without having or using social media platforms, that’s completely possible. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 3 ways to increase your blog traffic which doesn’t include the help of social media. Without further ado, let’s jump into the post!

SEO

One of the best, if not the most effective ways to gain traffic on your website is organically, more specifically through SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). If you are not familiar with this term, I’ve written a lot of posts about this subject and I would recommend to check them out if you are interested. But to put it simply, you need to optimise your website as well as your blog posts in order for them to rank high in search engines.

For instance, if one of your blog posts ranks high in search engines that means it appears either on the first or second page of Google. The higher your blog posts ranks, the more traffic you will receive. Optimising your website will not only bring you traffic but will also bring a ton of other opportunities whether it be paid or gifted. It will also help you reach a wider audience which is why you should pay more attention to SEO.

GREAT QUALITY CONTENT

This is something I always say on my blog but one of the best ways to keep your readers coming back to your blog and to gain followers & views on your website is to post good quality blog posts. You could be posting every single day but if the content you post isn’t helpful nor informative to your audience then there wouldn’t be any point. I think the mistake that some bloggers make is to switch their niche because they think changing the topics they write will bring more traffic and followers.

There is an audience for every niche. Unless you are switching your niche because you are not interested in the previous one you were writing – you are wasting all the hard work you had done before. Having an engaged community is way more important than having a ton of followers. In addition, listen to your readers. If they are asking you to write a blog post about a specific topic then write one. If they are interested in a particular topic about your niche then write about that topic more often.

INTERACTING WITH OTHERS

Last but not least, one of the great ways to drive traffic towards your website is by interacting with other blogs/bloggers. Most of the time, people wouldn’t know that your blog exists in the first place. By interacting on their blogs, you are letting the blogger as well as their audience know about your blog’s existence. I think it’s important to mention that you shouldn’t interact with other bloggers, just for the sake of driving traffic/followers towards your website. It’s not only disrespectful but it can also backfire you. Also, in my opinion it’s a great way to show support.

  1. Thank you so much for this! You always have my back when it comes to my blog. I admit that I feel lost right now! I hope I’ll get this write this time. 🙂

  2. I needed this. Social media can be both a boon and bane. I am someone who gets easily exhausted by social media. I love blogging but the sharing and maintaining part on social media can be very exhausting for some reason. The algorithm policy also miffs me off at times. however, I only kept it because sometimes, I feel like it’s a must for blogging.

    1. I totally agree with you! Maintains social media platforms can definitely be exhausting. I would much rather spend time working on my blog than social media but it can generate a decent amount of traffic to your website that’s the reason why I use them. Plus, I got to connect with some amazing people through social media. If I hadn’t used social media then I probably would have never met them. Thank you so much for reading hun ❤️

  3. I agree with #3 — and I feel like it’s very important for me to say that right here! 😉

#2 is not any guarantee of success (IMHO).

#1 needs to be clarified — when you say “search engine”, do you mean New Media Works (moi)? B|

And you might want to also clarify what you consider to be “social media” — is me talking, you listening, you talking, me listening, other people engaging, … is that “social media” or not?

    1. Hey mourodigital how are you doing today hope you’re having a great day I guess?

  4. Yeah, I’m echoing what’s being said above, but thank you for this. Since I started with my own blog, you blogging blogs have become a bit of a valuable tool to help get my head around it all!

  5. Well, I’m pretty much following everyone else by saying, thank you! I’ve only really started doing a blog in June and your blogging blogs have become an indispensable tool to get my head round it all. I’ve had a bit of a break recently after running out of steam with it and doing too much stuff to fill time in, but starting to feel like I’m getting ready to get back on the horse again.

  6. I hope it’s okay if I share this with some new blogging pals of mine. It’s sometimes hard explaining that growth is more than creating and posting. When I first entered the blogging community #communityovercompetition was a major hashtag and i greatly appreciated the engagement with no strings attached.
This post is super helpful, thanks so much for sharing!!

  7. What is the best way to optimize SEO through WordPress.com? I know for WordPress.org, if you are hosting your own website then you have a little more control. But with WordPress.com, unless you have a plan it is more tricky to navigate. Great post :)!

    1. You are absolutely right! You need to use a paid plan in order to optimise your website through WordPress.com but even in that case, there are some restrictions and you can’t optimise the same way as a self-hosted website unless you opt for a business or eCommerce plan then you will get the opportunity to optimise your website using plugins, etc. literally the same way as a self-hosted website. I’ve written a post about the ways to optimise a website (which works for WordPress.com as well), here’s the link: https://new-lune.com/2020/06/18/how-to-optimise-your-website-seo-for-beginners/

Thank you so much sweet! ❤️

  8. This is very helpful! Thank you! I am trying to use other ways to promote my blog because Instagram is really starting to piss me off and it is becoming a hazard more than ever 😛

  9. Yeah, as much as social media is helpful, sometimes, I find it’s all too overwhelming to deal with while posting on my blog. I’m trying to gain a better balance. I definitely think it helps to start off by putting your efforts in your blog before adding on social media to the mix.

Great post! Love following your blogging advice!

    1. Absolutely! But sometimes I wish I had paid attention to both, my blog and at least one social media platform.

Thank you so much gorgeous ❤️

  10. I love this —I am not great with social media (it drives me insane). Interacting with other blogs/bloggers is really rewarding (best thing about blogging, I believe) you get to read amazing posts and receive tons of support in return. It’s a win-win situation.

  11. Wow!!
    Love your post.
Especially this part, ” I think it’s important to mention that you shouldn’t interact with other bloggers, just for the sake of driving traffic/followers towards your website. It’s not only disrespectful but it can also backfire you. ”
It’s insane how people think it’s okay to spam other blogs with “Follow me” or “Read by blog”
    Great post.

    1. Thank you so much! ❤️ I know right! Another blogger’s comment section is not a social media platform. Thank you so much for reading 😊

  12. Appreciate the tips. I think I’m gonna have to read your “SEO” article now because while I know about the others, I basically know nothing about that…

  13. Thank you for the tips! Will try to implement them as much as I can. Not really much of a social media person, so these tips will hopefully help me out. 🌷

  14. Loved this post. Thank you. I am not big on social media so I like that their are other ways to drive traffic to my blog without using social media. Great suggestions!

  15. your blogs are always always so helpful. i need to look into SEO, i just dont understand anything about it at all!! ill be revisiting your blogs! thankyou so much

  17. This was a really helpful post, I must confess!
It’s very easy to think social media is the only way to grow one’s blog, but social media can be really really draining for me.
I’ll definitely be trying out these tips!
