Maintaining your blog is probably one of the hardest things to do ever. Unless you are a blogger yourself, I don’t think anyone would understand how time consuming and how much hard work it takes to run a website. You do have other commitments & responsibilities along with your blog and if you decide to prioritise your blog that means you are sacrificing another thing whether it’s your social life, free time, etc.
Thinking about deleting your blog is completely normal if you don’t have time to publish any blog posts or if you don’t notice any difference in terms of growth. We all have been there but personally, I wouldn’t recommend deleting your blog for multiple reasons. If you don’t want to blog anymore, that’s completely fine but don’t delete it. You never know what the future holds, in case you want to blog again – having an already established platform will help you grow back your audience as opposed to starting everything from scratch again.
You can even take a hiatus because at the end of the day, your mental & physical health as well as your responsibilities are the things you need to prioritise and your blog will always come after them. However, if you feel like giving up on your blog for different reasons then please don’t. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you 5 things you need to remember if you ever feel like giving up on blogging.

YOUR TRAFFIC CAN LITERALLY SKYROCKET ANY DAY
If you don’t see a difference in terms of growth, it can definitely feel disheartening. You won’t really see a point working on your blog since it doesn’t make a difference especially when other bloggers who have started blogging after you, are already able to gain thousands of followers and generate a lot of traffic. Well, one of the best and amazing things about blogging is you never know what will happen tomorrow.
It only takes a click for your traffic to skyrocket and it can happen any day, it can happen tomorrow, next week, next month or even next year but if you are working hard on your blog – it will definitely happen. My first year of blogging was non-existent, I saw a spike of growth the next year but it wasn’t anything drastic and it was only during my third year that my stats boomed. If I had given up on my blog after my first year or even at the beginning of my third year, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
The process of gaining followers or traffic isn’t as easy as it seems like. If I have to be blunt, the reason why some people choose to steal, imitate or copy another blogger’s content is because they aren’t able to grow their blogs and by plagiarising, it’s way quicker and easier to grow it. But obviously that comes with a lot of issues. Not only your credibility as a blogger will be questioned but you will also face serious repercussions which aren’t worth it at the end.
Implementing strategies will help you generate traffic and potentially grow your audience. Those things take a lot of time to work and you won’t notice a difference overnight. Just because one blogger was able to grow their blog within a month does not mean every blogger would be able to grow their blogs within that timeframe. Every blog is different and you will have to change & adapt your strategy according to your content and audience.

YOU HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO EARN MONEY FROM YOUR BLOG
I don’t think any blogger starts a blog in the intention of earning money from it and if they do, they won’t be able to succeed in the long run as running a blog takes a lot of effort and work. There is nothing wrong wanting to monetise your blog or even turn your blog into a career but if your sole goal is to earn money then you will be very disappointed. If you are passionate about your blog but are disheartened about the fact you aren’t able to make money from it, remember that not every blogger is able to monetise their platforms.
If it was that easy, everybody would have a blog by now. Being able to make money from one of your hobbies or passions is one of the best and rewarding feelings ever! Even if you aren’t able to make thousands of pounds, you have the possibility to make hundreds. At the end of the day, if you aren’t passionate about your blog regardless whether you are able to monetise it or not – you won’t be able to blog for a long time. That’s a fact.
If you are passionate about your blog then remember that you have the opportunity to monetise it one day and whether or not you decide to go for it, is completely up to you. I don’t want to make it seem like money is an important factor but if you are in a position that you can’t work outside your home then your blog can bring you a lot more opportunities than you could ever imagine. Remember that it will take some time to reach that position but it’s definitely something doable.

YOU ARE INSPIRING PEOPLE
Last but not least, you never know who reads your blog and who is eagerly waiting to read your next post – your blog might be a source of inspiration to so many people! You might think that nobody is reading your blog or that your content isn’t helpful but it could be inspiring many people. Not every reader leaves a comment or even likes a blog post, most of the times people who read your blog posts are silent readers.
They will read your content but won’t engage therefore you might feel like nobody is reading your content but people are actually reading your blog. When you see one view in your stats, that view comes from a person. Be proud of all your milestones, no matter how big or small they are! You should always be proud of the platform you have created, if you aren’t then who else will?

Thank you so much for posting this. I literally today just posted my first blog post in 7 long months because of my marriage breakdown. I neglected blogging because of the trauma and devastation of the situation and my mental health issues. Today I got back into it and I am so glad I didn’t delete anything here on WordPress. Thank you for validating and honouring that times canbe tough and it’s perfectly ok to take a breather. Much love. Sammi xx ❤️
You’re so welcome! I’m so sorry to hear that, hope you are okay and sending you lots of love ❤️ xx
❤️ sending big hugs and love 🥰
❤️❤️
Tons of hugs to you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think keeping things fun can go a long way into keeping your blog fresh and current. Your post length can be a situation where you run into fatigue. On a personal note I hope I inspire people a little.
I completely agree with you! And you definitely inspire people 😊 Thank you so much for reading!
I try to interject humor to my blog, but my issue is usually length. I have an idea that I think would be awesome for post but once I write it I think “who would want to read that much about me?” Often I take out the first or second paragraph thinking that nobody needs that much background. I’m still working on not doing that… work in progress.
Writing takes some practice and even with that it can be tricky to find the words you want to say. Keep on blogging my friend.
Thanks for this post. It’s a nice reminder because sometimes I feel discouraged from blogging. I love it but growing it can feel kind of slow
I agree
My pleasure hun! ❤️
I really love reading your blogs. It really helps me to stop being a procrastinator…so thank you so much and keep writing!
Aww you are the sweetest! Thank you so much babe ❤️
Once again Lune, another masterpiece, I love reading your blog it encourages me. I enjoy reading it so much that I believe many others out there will love to read it too, so sometimes I will reblog your blog so others can be blessed by it, but of course learning as a new blogger I make sure the writers get the credit since after all it’s there masterpiece❣️. I refer the reader to follow the original blog, which I in my opinion believe it is a great piece worth reading. It blessed me and it might bless the readers.
You touch on some very important points because I have many interests, experiences but I don’t know what to write about sometimes.
I felt like maybe just letting go of my blog even though my heart doesn’t want to. My busy life and health issues make it challenging. I originally started my blog for personal reasons with the intention of maybe expanding. I will write about this on my next blog so that I can get everyone’s opinion and ideas, but you will need to know my conditions and dilemma to be able to advise me better. I really need the help and advice. This writing came at the right time when I truly needed it, thanks Lune, xo

You are the sweetest! Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Very lovely and motivating post! I think anyone wanting to blog for a living should definitely understand that motivation for enjoying must come from yourself, and the content should come from the heart too. Thank you for this!
Thank you love! ❤️
I agree with all these reasons – blogging should really be born out of passion, but its great if that passion aligns with “traditional” metrics of success like views or money. However, it is important to def never lose sight of why we start!
Totally agree with you! 🙌🏼
Thank you so much for boosting me. It’s my first year of blogging and 1st point is very much applies to me. 😊
My pleasure! 😊
These are some great points, thank you for posting!! Great read
Thanks so much!
Inspiring, and for me, very timely! Thank you.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you dear, I absolutely loved that you mentionned that we are all inspiring people. It can be hard to see as we do not always have loads of comments saying it but there are lots of readers who never comment but get inspiration from us quite often. It was very cool to read your views on the topic!
My pleasure sweet! ❤️
In Monty Python’s “Holy Grail”, there is a running gag of mixing up the # 3 with the #5 (for example, in the “Holy Hand Grenade” scene [or whatever it’s called], they read the instructions and it involves counting to 3 (NOT 5) … of course — well in case you haven’t seen the movie yet: DEFINITELY watch it! 😀
I have a *question* for you: HOW MANY THINGS?
😉
Love this!
Thank you!
Thank you so very much I really needed this reminder. I’ve had my blog over a year and growth has been very slow
My pleasure! 😊
Love this! As I’m a new blogger, I haven’t reached the point of wanting to give up yet but these are very helpful pieces of encouragement.
Thank you hun! ❤️
I always find your posts engaging and enjoyable! You’re so right honestly. At the start of my blogging journey, I was ten and posting about gaming. I was over the moon when I received my first follower but my content didn’t take off. I had to first rebrand and then received a shoutout from a bigger blogger- I am so grateful to this day because that exposure helped me immensely!
Thank you so much gorgeous! ❤️
This is what I needed to be told today. Thanks for inspiring us. 🍀
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you so much for reading ☺️
Great tips!
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you for this post. 😇
You’re very welcome! ❤️
Thanks for the encouragement 💙.
You’re so welcome gorgeous! ❤️
What a great post! I’ve definitely taken long breaks from my blog before, but I don’t think I’d ever have the heart to delete it permanently. The point about your stats sky rocketing any day is so true, you truly don’t know who is going to come across it and when xx

Thank you my love! xx
Very nice! We can all use a little encouragement, and everyone deserves a break.
Thank you so much! 😊
Loved reading this. I totally agree, do t give up as any blog will still sit their gaining views via Google, even if you don’t have time to post regularly.
I plan to give my blog a bit of a facelift for the new year and start posting more often again. You’re right though, it’s definitely a slow burner. Fab post. x

You’re so welcome love! ❤️
I am glad to come across this article! As a blogger I know it requires effort, time, consistency and sacrifices to maintain a blog. The effort I can say is worth it. I really needed to read this. It is a Spot On!! Well-done!

It takes time! and effort, but it’s worth it, especially when someone thanks you for sharing.
Thanks for this. One thought I had is that there’s nothing worse than clicking on a broken link to an article of interest. I would definitely prefer to see blogs left in situ, even if there is a hiatus in content or enthusiasm. You never know, inspiration may, and probably will, strike again. 💗
My pleasure! ❤️
