So many bloggers end up deleting their blogs for various reasons. Some might not have the time to write blog posts anymore whilst others simply might not see the point to continue. If you ask me, I would always encourage anyone to start a blog. There are so many benefits of having a blog, plus it’s a great way to share your thoughts.
Before you decide to press the “delete” button, there are a couple of things you might need to think about before making that decision. Without further ado, let’s jump into the post!

WORRIED ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE?
If you are deleting your blog because of others in the sense people in your real life found out about it then it’s one of the biggest mistakes you could ever make. I was one of those people who didn’t share my blog in real life and didn’t want but I’ve reached a point in life where I don’t really care if others found it.
I just view it as promotion for my blog! At the end of the day, I’ll only be getting blog views which will help me tremendously when it comes to blog traffic so why would I miss that opportunity! But in all seriousness, you shouldn’t let others define your life in any way.
If you are worried about people judging your blog or talking behind your back, try to focus on the positives instead of the negatives. There will always be people talking, you shouldn’t let them control your life nor take over your life. The best they can do is read and check your blog posts & social media which will only bring you more views.

DON’T SEE A FUTURE WITH YOUR BLOG?
Some bloggers decide to delete their blog in a spur of the moment because they don’t receive a lot of views, likes nor comments. I can absolutely understand where they are coming from because as a blogger, it can be discouraging to see a post not perform well in terms of traffic when you’ve put so much time & effort into it. But blogging is all about getting over those obstacles.
Successful bloggers didn’t start their blogs with thousands of followers nor views. They all started from the bottom and it took them years to be where they are at. You can’t expect to gain thousands of followers nor views instantly in a matter of weeks or months because that’s simply impossible.
There are bloggers out there who might have gained those results in a couple of weeks/months but it’s only a small number of them. It literally takes years to see a difference, the best you can do is to work on your blog consistently without giving up. Slowly but surely, you’ll start to see a difference gradually.

LOST YOUR BLOGGING MOJO?
Sometimes it’s completely normal to have lost passion for blogging, we all do at some point. But that’s not really a reason to delete your blog. You might not love your blog anymore but your readers might do. You don’t know if someone keeps coming back at your blog for blog inspiration or if they love reading your blog posts. You can always keep your blog if you are under a hosting platform, there is no need to delete it. Your website will always be there on the internet and you don’t even have to manage it.
If one day you fall back in love with blogging, you’ll have to start everything all over again if you delete your blog. Just think about how much work you put into your blog, it will all go to waste. The only wise thing to do during this instance will be to do take a break from your blog and start blogging again if you are ready. If not, just delete all the apps from your phone and don’t think about your blog ever again!

WANT TO CHANGE EVERYTHING?
Some bloggers choose to delete their blogs because they grew out of their blog content/niche. They might have started with one topic and now after further reflections, they might realise that it’s not something they are passionate about. It’s completely okay to change or alter your blog content, you don’t have to delete your blog for that reason.
Take advantage of the platform and audience you already have built and just do a re-brand of your blog. I know sometimes it can be a huge trouble to change your blog/domain name if the name in question was related to a specific niche but you can always change it if you decide to upgrade your plan or go self-hosted.
If you are not ready yet then it’s always best to keep the domain name you already have and only change your blog name. Later on, in the future you can change it. Or even better, you can still keep that blog/domain name. It will look much more original and unique. Deleting your blog will be a drastic move when you only want to re-brand your website and incorporate/change your niche.

There will always be a reason to do something but it doesn’t mean that’s the right thing to do. In my opinion, deleting your website is equivalent to letting go of an opportunity. As I mentioned above, if you don’t want to blog anymore – you have the right to remove yourself from that position. You are not tied to anything or anyone. But on the other hand, if you do decide to come back and write back again, it will be a complete waste.
I like to have a piece of myself somewhere on the internet where I know I can look back at it and reminisce the old times. I personally think it’s such a great reminder at your thoughts, passion and inspiration. Having your own platform is something that people could never even have thought about a decade ago.
If you don’t like your blog posts, you can always delete or archive them. If you don’t want to blog anymore, you can always leave it as it is. If you feel uncomfortable or ashamed of your blog which actually there is no need to be, just take a break or don’t take it too seriously. If deleting your blog is a must and you don’t see any other options then you know what’s best for you. I just hope that you will never regret your decision.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

Nice content! Superb writing 🙂
Thank you so much love! ❤️
Great post. I deleted all my posts 2-3 times in my blogging career and started all over again. Every time more sure and clear what exactly I want to achieve.
Thank you! ☺️
Been there too myself….
The may be absent for sometime or inactive if I don’t have enough to express but definitely not going to delete my account as the hard of expressions and experience in the writings shared have made me think, is it me who had so much in mind and positivity expressed it
Absolutely!
Great post! Love all the advice! 🙂
Thank you lovely! 💗
😊💜❤ really do enjoy your blog!
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me 😘❤️
😘❤😉
❤️
🙌🏼❤️
this is so insightful! I have experienced all of these dilemmas! and have recented changed my blog again! I plan to try and stick this one out!!
Thank you! 💗
Don’t give up ! Thanks for sharing !
You’re welcome!
So well written. :))
WordPress.com (and a few other platforms) have a feature where one can temporarily (or permanently) make one’s blog private. I use that when I’m suddenly feeling FUD about blogging. I blog as a hobby though, not as a business. (Of course in the case of business or any money-earning blog, making one’s blog private would have financial consequences!)
Again, absolutely lovely post, with excellent thoughts and advice!
Thank you so much, Lia! It’s definitely a great feature if you want to make your blog private. Thank you lovely, I really appreciate it ☺️
Amazing Post ! I completely agree with you. People talk , people criticise but one should not be ashamed of !
After all, writing a blog needs courage and you are courageous.
Thank you gorgeous! 💗
Great post! I need to keep going
Thank you! 💕
No matter how good you are, people will still try to criticize, unless those are aged people.
I always believe in doing anything with plan. If you want to blog as a business, go for it! If you want to blog for fun, go for it! whichever you choose, give out your best. People out there are in need of your thoughts.
Be strong, be confident and courageous. Figure out ways to keep you keep yourself motivated! And remember, it doesn’t harm to be helpful to people!
I am where I am today because people’s thoughts contributed to it. .
Give up naysayers and negative energy! Know your stuff, Know what you want, and know where you are going.
Help others if you want to get it back, whether financially or otherwise!
waaa, thank you for your encouragement! love it
Such a great message 🙌🏼
Awesome post..!
Thank you! x
Such great advice as always! 🙂
Thank you gorgeous! ❤️
It’s so difficult to change niches. I started as a book blog and was so afraid to blog about other topics I was interested such as beauty or reviewing products I try out, making tutorials. In the end, I became very unhappy with my blog and left it rotting for months. When I came back, I decided to just blog away (still with dread) about other things. The fear was irrational. I didn’t lose followers, recovered my love for blogging and I’m still passionate about books 🙂
I started off as a nail art blog and here I am with a lifestyle blog! As you grow, your interest will gradually start to change so that’s completely normal to incorporate other topics. I truly believe that if you are passionate about a topic, your readers will enjoy it as well. Thanks for reading hun 💗
You are welcome and thank you for your valuable input, as always 🙂
My pleasure hun! ❤️
Great post and very encouraging, I am learning that periods of low inspiration are normal.
Thank you so much! ☺️
This is just so true. With the whole algorithm change, its become so difficult to connect with other fellow bloggers. I find the stats have also decreased but it makes me motivated to continue even more. Thank you for sharing hun xx
My pleasure! xx
Can relate on so many things! Thanks for that, always so well writen❤️
Thank you so much beautiful! ❤️
Thanks for this. I have been considering changing my domain name but not sure what to change it too. A lovely fellow blogger gave me good advice and your post has helped too..I can always rebrand the name at some point ❤️😊
My pleasure! Don’t worry about the name, you always have the opportunity to change it in the future ❤️
You’re doing amazing
Thank you! ❤️
You’ve built quite an army on here, What’s your secret? 😅
Aw thanks! I guess it’s blogging consistently and writing what I love lol 😅
That’s so cool 😅. I want to be like you when I grow up
Awh thank you, that’s really sweet but you’ll be way better than me 💗
I felt like this earlier this year i went through alot of mental health stuggles and decided to make my blog private for a while. At the time i wasn’t sure if i wanted to continue but after 6 or so months off i have found myself wanting to get back into it, so I’ve been redesigning my blog and going through my old posts and updating things and what not. I feel like I’ve found my passion again, i still have alot to work through personally but i feel myself getting back to to my normal self again and finding my passion and drive for creating and writing again.
I have read your entry about ‘deleting your blog’. Interesting ideas and opinions you have in there. Smiles, I’m not thinking of deleting my blog but I clicked on that because I was interested in your angle on the topic. Nice work. Merry Christmas Peace, artfromperry
Thank you so much!
I totally agree with this post. I started my blog in 2009 and stopped blogging altogether around 2012 because I started Uni. I am glad I just left it because I knew I would use it as my website when the time was right. Now I am back, still in Uni doing a Masters and WP has improved over the years, it is now my website and blog. I get to share my work as a portfolio and ramblings on my blog.
Side note: Thank you for liking my posts.
You’re welcome! 😘

I can relate to this. I have deleted a post before and i’m thinking to myself maybe I shouldn’t have. Thanks for this!
My pleasure! 💗
You make some excellent points. Thanks for the inspiration to keep going 🙂
Thank you so much sweet! ❤️
This is an excellent post! I’ve put too much time and work in my blogs to delete then. With that said, I have modified them several times. I have trashed posts and rewritten them and I have deleted a few posts. My 2 blogs have different themes so I can express myself in different ways. I would put my blog in a private mode before deleting it and also, we should always keep a back up of our blogs.
Thank you so much, Eugenia! ❤️
You’re welcome! 😊
❤️
Thank you for this! I have deleted and returned to blogging multiple times because I feel like I’m failing at blogging. This is what I needed to read!:)

Hi New Lune, I love this post. I am new to blogging since Nov 19, it really is proving to be a great vehicle for my thoughts that are always rattling around my head, I have so many articles in there, and out they come one at a time.
Wishing you many blessing for 2020 x
Thank you so much lovely! Have a happy and prosperous new year x
Even if you aren’t actively blogging, leaving your work up will still allow more people to find you, and then, as you’ve said, you can always pick it back up later.
Nice post!
That’s completely true! Thank you!
So useful
Glad to hear that you found it useful!
