1 | STARTING A BLOG FOR THE WRONG REASONS
Most bloggers create their website out of passion or as a hobby. All the bloggers that are successful in this industry didn’t really know they could monetise their blog, let alone create a business/career out of it. But I see so many people create a blog in hopes of earning money, receiving free products and get a lot of followers which all bloggers know none of these things are easy.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with accepting sponsored content or gifted products. I’ll be the first person to encourage you to monetise your blog and earn a couple of bucks on the side. But when you start a blog for the sole reason of getting free products or money, I’m sorry to tell you but blogging isn’t for you.
SOLUTION: As I said, the solution for you is to look at another industry or path where you could receive free products and potentially earn money on the side. Why not take advantage of the skills you already have? There are so many websites online where you can apply for freelance jobs. Only do something if you are truly interested or passionate. Never force yourself into following a career path or even doing something as insignificant as going somewhere if you don’t enjoy it.

2 | CHOOSING THE WRONG CONTENT
The beauty of blogging is anyone can write about anything they want. Your blog can incorporate one or multiple niches. There isn’t any set rule of what or how someone should write. But you have to make sure that you include relevant content on your blog.
There will be an audience for every topic/niche but you have to make sure that the information you are publishing is going to be helpful and informative to other people. Even if it’s not positive, it shouldn’t be negative. As a blogger/content creator, you have the power of influencing your audience therefore you have a huge responsibility. Make sure you use it in a positive way.
SOLUTION: It’s actually very simple. If you wouldn’t say it aloud or to your loved ones then you probably shouldn’t write it online either. There are so many topics to write about, don’t waste your precious time on writing about irrelevant and negative things.
SOLUTION: C’est en fait très simple.

3 | HAVING HIGH EXPECTATIONS
This one ties with the first one but so many people have high expectations when it comes to their blogs. I’m not talking about those thinking about turning their blog into a business/career or working with their dream brands (because those are goals and dreams every blogger should have!) but quite the opposite.
Some people literally expect to gain thousands of followers within a week or so which sadly doesn’t happen to most bloggers. When you set unrealistic expectations, it’s bound to fail. Even if you post every single day, you are not going to gain thousands of followers every month!
SOLUTION: Instead of setting unrealistic expectations, set realistic goals! For instance, it can be as small as reaching 100 followers on your blog or getting 100 views on a blog post. As time pass, you can increase the number as well. Implement plans & strategies to grow your blog traffic and be patient!

4 | CREATING A BLOG TO BOOST YOUR EGO
I know most of you will be very surprised to know that there are people out there who start a blog to boost their ego, crazy right? This actually happens quite often on Instagram and I would say it’s pretty common but in the blogging community, it’s just weird. A website isn’t a platform to boost your ego. A website is a platform to share experiences, skills, tips, advice to help & inform others and none of those things include a place for ego.
SOLUTION: The best platform for you is definitely social media, specifically Instagram. Sadly, it’s one of the social media platforms which is perfect for people who need to boost their ego 24/7. Don’t waste your time on creating a blog.

5 | COPYING ANOTHER BLOG
You can always incorporate another niche and be inspired by another blog or blogger which is totally normal but if you copy another blog’s content, it’s not surprising that your blog is bound to fail from the very beginning. As tempting as it might look, please don’t copy another blogger’s content. There is a huge difference between inspiration and stealing.
SOLUTION: I’m pretty sure your content is already amazing so why don’t you try to promote it instead of copying another blog? Do your research and write topics that you are truly passionate about! From there on, implement strategies to grow your blog traffic.

6 | NOT DEDICATING ENOUGH TIME
Unfortunately, some blogs fail because you didn’t dedicate enough time and effort. Sometimes, it’s not even about being consistent but sparing your free time once in a while to publish a blog post or to reply to comments. You are allowed to take huge breaks/hiatus from blogging but if your blog is only consisted of breaks and not content then sadly, it will fail.
SOLUTION: Planning is the key! If you have a busy schedule or work/study part-time/full-time, try to spare a couple of minutes for your blog per day or week – something that works for you instead of nothing at all. Remember, you don’t have to publish a blog post every single week. Even if you can post one a month, it’s amazing!
SOLUTION: La planification est la clé!

7 | NOT WAITING
Last but not least, the number one reason some blogs fail is because they don’t wait. In order for your blog to grow, it takes a lot of time & effort and requires a lot of patience from your side. You never known when your blog is going to take off and by the time it’s going to, you might have already given up. That’s what happen in most instances which is such a shame.
SOLUTION: Don’t get discouraged and don’t give up! Don’t feel down because your blog is already amazing as it is, you only just have to be patient. There is no need to compare your blog with others, you don’t know what they do behind the scenes and how much time & effort they put into their blog. The best advice I can give is to implement blogging strategies and try to publish blog posts consistently, after that it’s only a matter of time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

You have only 14 likes on this “Blog”. Should we consider liking this particular blog?
It would be better to base your likes on your own decisions, not someone else’s.
?
??
I was just wondering about your post. You seem nice, yet your blog seems a bit off center. A little egotistical, yet not totally wrong.
Some of it was nice, yet most are online to boost their own information/blogs. I find that very few people really view others posts and are really posting to feed their own situations.
Because a person does not get many “likes” does not mean their blogs are not worthy.
First of all, I never mentioned anywhere that if a blog doesn’t get many likes that they are not worthy. We all started from the same place and you shouldn’t base your worth from a number. Secondly, you can boost your own information. I’ve never mentioned anywhere that you can’t. I’m sorry that you feel I’m a little egotistical and that my blog seems a bit off centre. Have a merry Christmas.
I don’t think you come off that way at all. It seems to have hit a nerve because how truthful and helpful your advice is. Also, you said the very opposite … that a blog isn’t considered a failure based on the number of likes/comments it receives. Smh. Have a merry Christmas!
Thank you so much hun! You are the sweetest, I really appreciate your comment! Merry Christmas ❤️
It’s no problem 🙂 Merry Christmas!~

These are all excellent tips, but there is one in particular that hit home. If you won’t say it outloud, or to a loved one, don’t post it. Very good post. Thank you darling and Merry Christmas. ❤
Thank you so much lovely! Merry Christmas ❤️
Relatable and informative post.. Much love ❤
Thank you gorgeous! ❤️
Great tips ! Totally agree especially with the “NOT waiting”!
Thank you sweet! ❤️
Thank you for writing about this. The dedication to time is what affects me the most, especially with returning to school. So during my winter break I been writing out all the posts that I wanna write about and scheduling them out using the WordPress calendar.
My pleasure lovely! ❤️
To be honest my only problem is that I’m lazy and lose motivation sooooo quick 😪 I’m tired of myself 💀🤣
Girl same! 😂 But I always remind myself to do at least one productive task every day otherwise I know I won’t do anything at all 🙈
I’m working on it seriously 🙏🏻✨
🙌🏼❤️
Thanks for sharing it. I agree particularly that creating a blog to boost ego is a wrong and bad idea. 😃
You know, maybe it now take ages to get one loyal customer. However, I think it’s worth waiting for. Lol
You’ve spoken well. Thumbs up! Oh, I love that behind the scene Part – makes me remember it is never easy. Wow! Haha
Merry Christmas
Thank you! Merry Christmas ☺️
My pleasure babe! 💗
Thanks really helpful
You’re welcome! So glad you found it helpful ☺️
This post is really enlightening! I really love the whole structure of it-how you presented the common mishaps and the reasons for blogging and the simple yet accurate solutions for each. It made me reflect about my personal reasons for blogging and it made me realize that blogging is not as easy as it seems- it should not be used to boost your own ego, rather it’s actually a big responsibility because you are influencing the lives of others.
Happy Holidays and more power to you and your blog ❤
Thanks for the advice. Was really feeling down in the mouth. But your words have sprung hope eternal in my spirit. Already added you to my Blog’s I Follow list. Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Prosperous New Year.
My pleasure love! Hope you had a lovely Christmas ❤️
Reblogged this
Thank you ❤️
many valuable lessons here. thank you
Thank you so much! ☺️
Woow you have said it all….Waiting is the key to grow your Blog … because one can easily giveup .
Thank youu! 💗
This was really insightful – for me my biggest struggle was finding the time to invest in my blog. I’m super proud of the fact that through the whole year I’ve only taken one break even though it was very iffy at various stages! I think not waiting is another important one too, the last times I attempted blogging I think I wasn’t patient enough and when I didn’t see results it was all too easy to give up. This year I made the point of keeping at it even if it was a slow burn and it’s paid off 🙂 x
Thank you so much! Well done babe 💗 I’m pretty sure your blog will keep on growing x
Thanks! Great tips. I just started blogging and hopefully for the right reasons – my blog is for myself to pen my thoughts.
Thank you so much!
As always, some really good tips! I’ve been rather lazy with my blog in the latter half of 2019 but hoping to grow it again in 2020 with some new fresh content 🌟
Thank you sweet! You’ll definitely grow your blog immensely in 2020 👊🏼🌟
Thank you for this. Very well said. I blog for me to get my thoughts out so I can read them. It’s also a way that other people can see who I am and how I believe. I really enjoyed this post.
Thank you so much, David!
Reason #6 is totally me omg 😂😭
I think it was every blogger at some point hahaha 😂
Yay, I hope it won’t stay like that hahaha 😂😂
It definitely won’t stay like that! ❤️
On point, all around, great tips!
Thank you!
