5 Tips To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

If there is one thing I’ve learnt is that you cannot achieve any of your goals or dreams if you don’t get out of your comfort zone. Obviously it’s not an easy process and can be quite daunting & intimidating at first but you’ll never be able to reach your full potential while being stuck in the same place. I’ll be the first person to say not to do something if you feel uncomfortable and the same applies in this case as well.

There is a huge different between doing something to get out of your comfort zone and doing something that makes you uncomfortable. Remember that one will bring you fulfilment and joy whilst the other won’t, so trust your gut instinct! In today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you 5 tips to get out of your comfort zone. As always, if you are interested – keep on reading!

GET NEW OPPORTUNITIES

I think the number one thing you should remember that by getting out of your comfort zone, you’ll be able to bring new changes in your life such as getting new opportunities. When you are stuck in a routine, it won’t allow you to explore and find other paths in life.

HAVE NO REGRETS

The biggest reason why some people don’t want to get out of their comfort zone is because they are afraid. But you know what’s scarier than that, it’s living your life regretting that you didn’t do something. When you miss your chance, there isn’t any certainty that you will receive the same opportunity again.

OVERCOME YOUR FEARS

You can look getting out of your comfort zone as overcoming your fears as well. Most of the times when we have to get out of our comfort zone, we feel anxiety and fear but you have to get out of that place in order to conquer those fears in the first place.

INSPIRE OTHERS

I think something we don’t realise is the fact by getting out of our comfort zone, we can help others do the same as well. You don’t need to have a platform, blog or social media. Even sharing with your loved ones your experience might help them get out of their comfort zone.

GROW AS A PERSON

Before you start to over-worry about what’s going to happen, think about the results. I truly believe that you will grow as a person and learn new things about yourself when you get out of your comfort zone. This will teach you lessons and you will even gain experiences.

  1. Short and sweet post but I love it! I think you made a really good point at the beginning of your post about the difference between getting out of your comfort zone and doing something that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Last year I decided to put my priorities straight and stop doing things that just don’t make me happy. I’ve also stopped trying to please everyone, especially people who wouldn’t care back. I have a few things I really want to achieve this year and sometimes it’s a daunting thought but somehow I feel a bit closer to it cos I’ve persevered and have been talking to close friends who have been encouraging everyday. 🙂

    1. Thank you hun! I stopped trying to please everyone last year. I guess since it’s something I’ve been doing all my life, it became tiring and emotionally draining at one point. I wasn’t happy with myself and I felt I was living my life for others.

I’m so happy to hear that you have a great support system. It’s always nice when your close friends or loved ones are encouraging you. I hope you achieve any goals you planned this year 👊🏼

    2. Thanks 😊! I was the same too – doing things that made others happy but it wasn’t something that was for my gain. There was no self fulfilment in it and the worse is when they do not appreciate your efforts in putting them as a priority. All this comes with age and experience though.

I hope you achieve all your goals too!

  2. You shared some valid points in your post.
I’m onboard for change of routine with no regrets.
I made the decision to do what’s best for ‘me’ and I don’t feel that’s selfish.
I enjoy reading your blog posts especially since you write in both my first and second languages.
Another excellent and informative read – great work!!

  3. This is a great reminder. If you want to achieve something greater, you have to move closer to your goal…and away from comfort. You never hear much about comfortable achievements.

  4. This really made me smile as I’ve been getting out of my comfort zone a lot recently but not really stopping to think into the deeper benefits of it, I’ll be sure to keep this all in mind and it will motivate me to keep it up. Great post! 😄❤️

  5. I can’t tell you how timely this post is. I’m so stuck in routine and recently my boyfriend was injured at work. He will be home for quite some time and I seem to be fighting the routine change to the point that I have so much anxiety. You’ve opened my eyes. I need to stop fighting old routines and make new ones with him. It’s all going to be ok. Thank you for helping me with this today.

    1. Oh no! I hope your boyfriend is okay now. I’m so glad to hear that ❤️ I know it’s easier said than done but don’t worry, everything will be okay. You are very welcome love xx

  6. Well written! Yes, stepping out of comfort zone can be daunting, but like you know, it’s easy for one to deviate from something that is not comfortable to the body.

We don’t know comfort zone has it’s limitations, but when you step out of it, it’s limitations becomes it’s benefits.
    High five!

  7. These are such good tips!! This year I am planning on really trying my hardest to do things I normally wouldn’t and take up as many new opportunities as I can, I agree that if you don’t take up these chances you will regret it in the future!

  8. Such an inspiring post, thanks for sharing! 😊 Whenever I have a new opportunity, I try to tell myself, as much as I can that “if the only reason I don’t want to do it is fear, then I have to do it” 😄

  9. It’s wonderful that you’re both encouraging us to think big an expand ourselves, but not too big: we don’t have to change the world all at once, we can make a small difference in the lives of our loved ones today. Thank you!

  10. Thank you so much! I found this in Reader and needed to read. Like so many of the commenters above, I too am stuck in a routine and it’s getting pretty monotonous.

I’ve promised myself to quit my job and work on my blog full time. I just want to take advantage of my vacation days first. And I want to save a little more. My goal is October.

This is a great post. Reading it gets me excited about the near future! Again, thank you!

  11. Nicely written. I was talking with a friend yesterday & we were saying we should be proud of ourselves for expanding out comfort zones. They either shrink or expand. I don’t think they stay static.
