The mind is everything. What you think you become.
Hey Loves! I thought I’d do a different post than I usually do today, I’ve always wanted to share study tips and my experience in high school and uni so what better way to start it off than to share some tips for being more productive after school/uni!
The struggle is real when it comes to getting good grades, maintaining a social life while working and taking care our health and fitness. Some days can be very overwhelming and can lead to procrastination, that’s not really what we want so here are some tips that I did to be productive after school/uni.

✘ Choose an environment that works for you
My best tip would be to find an environment that works for you when it comes to studying. Personally for me, I couldn’t study at my desk or in my room – I always studied in my living room in my sofa with my laptop and books. While I was in high school, it was the same case but I was using my dining table.
I’m the type of person that needs a comfortable environment to work productively and I most particularly need sounds (like not music) but some sort of sounds whether it was the TV or something outside.
However for some people, it might be the complete opposite! Some people will only have a clear mindset if they work on their desk in a quiet environment. In addition, for some people they might want to switch things up like studying in a library or coffee shop. Do what works for you!

✘ Prepare beforehand
I always used to prepare what assignments I was going to work with at home in advance while I was still at uni or a week prior to that, that was the only way I was able to submit my essays and assignments a week earlier it was supposed to due.
Having a clear and organised mind made a huge difference for me, I didn’t even write my deadlines nor what I needed to do on a notebook nor on my phone but it was everything set in my mind. As soon as I came home, I knew which module to start and it worked for me.

✘ Study smarter
This is something I learnt the hard way from high school, I was the type of student who learnt every single thing in the textbooks for an exam and it was mentally and physically draining. When it comes to our education system (whether it’s in France or in the UK), we only need to pass our exams which most of the time doesn’t even include half of what we’ve studied.
Think about what your professor wants you to know, some will give you hints and clues so you know what to expect in your exams. Always check the PowerPoint documents, google online some practice exams sheets, take use of the books and e-books in your library and other academic sources.

✘ Use a planner
I can’t stress about how useful are planners for uni and school, it was mandatory to have a planner throughout primary school up until high school in France so I never knew how effective it was. When I started uni in the UK, I didn’t buy a planner but I started using the notes and calendar apps on my iPhone. Whether it’s a planner or an app on your phone, make sure to use them when noting important deadlines and exam dates as well as any other useful information.

✘ Wear comfortable clothes
I always feel a lot more productive when I wear something comfortable whether it’s my comfy pjs or loungewear. I can’t study with my clothes I wear outside, I know some people are so contrasting compared to me! They can only study if they wear a cute outfit and wear makeup but for me, it doesn’t really work..

✘ Take breaks
Even if it’s a 5 min break, make sure you take those breaks constantly! I’ll spend hours and hours on my laptop and when I stand up, it feels like I’m in a completely different world and it’s not really good for your health. If you know you’re going to study for a long amount of time, make sure to take at least a 5 min break every 30 mins or so!

✘ Turn off any distractions
Last but not least, turn off any distractions when studying whether it’s your phone or a tab on your search engine just close it or switch to silent. I don’t really this issue to be completely honest because as soon as I start focusing on my laptop, I’m really into it and it’s really difficult to distract me haha!

Great advice! Finding an ideal study location for oneself that can be easily accessed is a huge boon, as is taking regular breaks! Personally, I NEED to take frequent breaks: if I sit down for an hour or more without getting up I start to go crazy.
Also, I’d like to suggest one addition to your list: starting the day off with exercise and/or meditation. I used to have a strict rule that the first thing I did each morning was practice kung fu/tai chi. I was infinitely more productive, possible even intelligent (if intelligence is a ‘thing’ that can be measured, and not some artificial construct), during that period of my life than any other.
Yes, that’s a good one as well! I’ve started meditating recently and it definitely helps me in terms of being stress free x
HELLO i love you work. Can u give me your opinion for my work? 🙂
J’aime ton blog! Continue ton bon travail 😘
Great tips! I was such a good “studier” when I was in high school… come college, I always waited until last minute! But I never went wrong with wearing comphy clothes. That was always my go to.
Thank you lovely! Wearing comfy clothes is a must, I can never study properly in my regular clothes – I don’t know how some people can do it x
Having the perfect study environment is so important for me! I can’t study if I’m somewhere with lots of noise or, even worse, bad lighting!
Thank you! Now i could focus on my exam and improve my grades 🙂
You’re welcome! Good luck for your exam! 😘
