Feeling out of place or intimidated during a social event and thinking that you are not good enough to achieve something – everyone feels that way sometimes. Having low self-esteem is quite common and more normal than you would imagine. You are not the only one to feel that way.
Often, the people we admire and inspire stir up negative feelings about ourselves, for instance, that we are not good enough or interesting like them. The good news is that you are! We are all equal, we all have special qualities, insecurities, strengths and weaknesses.
If this constant feeling of being mediocre diverts your self-esteem and self-confidence, you will never feel good enough and you will always restrict yourself because of it. If you want to get rid of this feeling then this post is for you.

DISCOVER WHO YOU TRULY ARE
In general, when one suffers from having a low-confidence level, it is because we don’t know who we truly are and we allow people who know nothing about us to define us. We all have areas where we excel compared to others but each person has something special.
If you are not good at playing a musical instrument, you are good at something else – and that’s your strength. What you think is missing, you compensate for something else so do not doubt yourself. Each one of us has a strength or ability that the other person lacks, it doesn’t mean that one is better than the other or vice versa. It just means that there will always be someone better at something and we shouldn’t let that create insecurities.
LEARN THE ART OF COMPARISON
Everyone compares and I’m not telling you to stop comparing yourself to others because I know it’s almost impossible. It’s something every human does for a fraction of a second and it’s hard to stop. It is in our nature to compare the results, performances and other people’s successes. I always say that the only person you should compare yourself with is yourself, that way you don’t have to compete with anyone and the comparison will not be toxic either.
However, comparing yourself with another person might not be necessarily a bad thing – it can be very beneficial if you use it to your advantage. The idea is that you have to compare yourself to others in order to improve yourself and not to belittle yourself. Take it as an inspiration!
For instance, let’s talk about physical appearance. There’s no point in comparing my height with someone who is taller than me because it’s something that I can’t change and can’t control. But let’s say I have an insecurity about my nose that stops me from living my life to the fullest. There are so many options available such as a non-surgical nose job. Or maybe treat yourself to a facial to help with skin issues.
Consider accepting your “flaws” and insecurities before you think about changing them. Obviously, if it’s something you really want to do and this decision is not based on other people’s influence, cosmetic procedures can really boost your confidence. Be sure to choose a reputable and well-known clinic and first and foremost, make sure to do your research!

CELEBRATE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Instead of telling yourself that you have achieved something from a stroke of luck, tell yourself you succeeded because you worked hard for it. Besides, if you do not deserve credit for your success then who deserves it? You did all the work to achieve it and spent the time and effort to do it! Learn to congratulate yourself when you accomplish something. This will gradually help you understand that you are capable of achieving anything and you will stop feeling inferior because you will know your true worth.
DON’T CARE ABOUT OTHERS’ OPINIONS
You must define yourself by your own opinion and not what others say about you. There will always be people who will criticise you and who believe they know better than you. Do you have to let other people’s opinions affect you? Absolutely not. I understand that it can be important but you have to learn to realise that no one will know more about you than you do.
You will only feel lower or inferior to another person if you give importance to what other people say about you. When you learn to live your life without worrying about others, that’s when everything changes. We become more comfortable in our skin and the fear of being judged disappears little by little.

GET INSPIRED
A good way to blur this inferiority complex is to turn this comparison into inspiration. Tell yourself that when good things happen to other people, it means it can happen to you too. There is a possibility and chance! Just because one person is successful in a field doesn’t mean there isn’t any chance for others. There is room for everyone. Be inspired by the achievements of others, it will give you more courage than you think.
REMOVE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS OUT OF YOUR MIND
You must stop saying “I can’t”. These words should no longer be part of your vocabulary. Just thinking that you will not succeed limits you. You will never reach your full potential if your state of mind is negative. Instead of saying you cannot, say “I can”. It will gradually break the mental barrier to the root of your low self-esteem. If you say it every time and truly believe in it, you will begin to feel like you can achieve and do anything in the world!
